Labor Day Weekend Recap 9.4.17 Family Fun at Lake Burton

Hey guys!! How are you?  How was your long weekend?  We made it back from the lake Monday afternoon, but had the best weekend away.  We left Friday after work for my in-law’s lake house in Georgia with my dad, brother, our pups and my mother-in-law.  We got in late on Friday night and went straight to bed.

On Saturday morning, we took a walk with the pups then hit the lake!!  Our dogs aren’t spoiled at all….

This little munchkin did some tubing!!

And made a new friend at the marina after he got some ice cream!  I am still trying to convince him that dogs are better than cats… he disagrees.

Saturday afternoon we played some ping pong and took turns on the kayaks in the cove before loading up on the boat with some drinks and appetizers for a little sunset cruise!

The pups were pretty happy they got to tag along. 🙂

My dad and brother.

My dad tried all day long to catch a fish and finally did later Saturday evening!

Sunday morning we all piled in the car and headed to a nearby trail for a short hike!

The short hike led to a beautiful waterfall!

Jacob leading the way.

The crew minus my dad, the photographer. 🙂

Me, my brother, and my daddy!

After our hike, we hung out on the boathouse for a while before taking out the jetskis!  Jacob couldn’t get enough!  He likes to go fast!!!  My dad last about 5 minutes. 🙂

We had such a nice relaxing weekend filled with lots of fun activities and fun family time, but we were all a little tired when we got home on Monday.  Riley headed straight for a nap with his “friends.” 😉

Later that night he decided I was a better pillow. 🙂  I just can’t get enough of this pup! Don’t you guys worry… Callie gets all the love too… she was probably just hiding in a corner during this picture… she is a funny one. 🙂

That about sums up our weekend at the lake!  We are so fortunate our families get along so well and we can all be together on long holiday weekends!! I hope you guys all had a fun and relaxing weekend as well!! I will be back later this week for my final two recaps of our trip to Hawaii!!

  1. Did you travel anywhere for Labor Day?
  2. What was the best meal you had this weekend?
  3. Did you get to do any outdoor activities this weekend? Lake? Pool? Hike?

Lake Burton Weekend With Friends

Hi friends!! How was your weekend?  Mine was pretty low key with a girls night, a date night and a pool day at my moms.  My husband spent the majority of the weekend working on building us a new dining room table.  I will show you guys pictures once it is complete!  I am soo excited!

Last weekend we headed down to lake Burton on Thursday once our friends arrived from Boston.  We met a few of our other friends there for a long weekend in the sunshine!  We did a lot of boating.

And played a lot of hillbilly golf.

The pups were pretty darn happy the whole weekend.

We played games in the boathouse and floated in the water.  We got so lucky with great weather for most of the weekend.

I have the best friends!  We had friends fly from Boston and Iowa, and drive from Ohio, Tennessee, and Georgia.  It was such a great group!

Thursday and Friday night we just grilled out at the house.  Saturday night we had dinner at the restaurant at the marina.  The girls before boating to dinner.  We had a group picture with the boys, but that phone took a tumble into the lake. 😉

My and my bestie Rachael!

I got the salmon at dinner and it was amazing!!

On our boat ride home from dinner some neighbors were shooting off fireworks so we got our own little show.  It was awesome!

Isn’t nature just so beautiful?

Most of the crew left Sunday, but we stayed an extra day with our friends from Boston.  We spent most of the day at the marina (we got caught in a rainstorm) and on the boat.

After cleaning up and packing up on Monday morning, we made the drive back to Nashville.  Somebody was exhausted!!

When we got home I got a call from my florist mom that she was making a delivery to our house.  She has the prettiest hydrangeas at her house and often brings me some.  I just LOVE having fresh flowers in my house.

Well it took all last week to recover from lots of fun at the lake, but I am feeling well-rested and ready to tackle this week!  Who’s with me?!  I hope to pop in later this week, but until then, have a great one!!

  2. Do you take an annual trip with friends?
  3. What are you having for breakfast today?

Weekend Recap 10.3.16 Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium Tour, an Old Favorite Place, and Lake Day

Good morning! I hope your day is off to a good start!  I have lots of catching up to do today so let’s just dive right into my weekend recap!

We got home late Friday night from travelling so Saturday morning was a slow one.  After our perspective workouts and a dog walk, Jon and I got ready to head to the AT&T stadium (where the Dallas Cowboys play) in Arlington, TX for a guided tour.  We have been wanting to do this since we moved to Dallas so I finally got the tickets for my husband for our first year anniversary and set a date!

The AT&T stadium took 3 years to build (2006-2009).  It is massive.

It holds 80,000 seats with the option of adding 10,000 more (moving the seats closer together) and has 10,000 standing only tickets too.

We got to see the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders’ locker room.  Do any of you watch their reality show?  I used to, but haven’t in a long time.  If I heard our tour guide right, she mentioned that the Cowboys cheerleaders were started in 1972 when cheerleading first became established as a sport.

Then we moved onto the players locker room.  Sorry for the dark pictures!

We got to see the post-game interview room.

And then we got to go on the field!

Us on the famous star.

So guess how much this 4 sided screen weighs?   1.2 Million Pounds…. and guess how much it cost to make?   $40 million!!!

We got to go in some of the suites and see the press boxes.   The stadium has a ton of cool art and light fixtures too.  The owner’s wife even flew to Italy to shop for some floor tile that reflects the Dallas Cowboys color blue when the light hits it just right.

We learned tons of really fascinating information, but something I was amazed by was the number of employees.  On a non game day, there will still be about 1,500 employees at the at the stadium and on game day, there are between 5,000 and 10,000 employees.  That is a lot of people!!

After the tour, we headed to Fort Worth to grab a drink outside because the weather was so great.  We stopped by the Bird Cafe in the town square and watched multiple wedding parties and homecoming high school kids take pictures.

After our drinks we headed to Carrabbas for dinner.  I have always loved this restaurant as my dad took us when I was in high school about once a week.  It never disappoints.

Sunday after church and grocery shopping, we headed out to the lake with a few friends.  The weather was in the low 80s without a cloud in the sky.  This little guy (Otis) tagged along too.  Let’s just say, he doesn’t love the water like Riley does. 😉

After a few hours on the boat, we headed home and played some darts on our rooftop before calling it a night.  It was such a nice weekend at home before the travelling  madness starts again. 🙂

  1. Highlight of your weekend?
  2. Any trips coming up for you?
  3. Are you an NFL fan?

Dinner at the Top of Dallas and My Favorite Place to Be

Hi friends! How is your week going?  This week has been pretty good over here as we have been getting ready for our upcoming travels and somehow I ended up with a million appointments this week, but hey, I will be happy once Friday comes!

Last night I was going through my pictures and I know I recently mentioned that my husband and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary, but I forgot to show you pictures from our celebration.  My husband just told me to be ready by 6, but that it was a surprise where we were going.  He even made sure to keep the destination a secret with our Uber driver.

Once we turned into the parking lot of Reunion Tower, I knew we were going to Wolfgang Puck’s Asian inspired restaurant Five Sixty located 50 stories up on the top of the rotating tower.  I snapped this picture of the tower a few days ago.  The view from below…

The view from up top…

The restaurant rotates 360 degrees in one hour so throughout our meal, we got to see views of the whole city, which was pretty neat!

We ordered a rainbow roll to split and my husband couldn’t resist the dumplings.

I got the scallops for my entree and they were incredible!  My husband got some type of fish, but I’ll spare you the picture since it came with the head! 🙂  The food was amazing!

When we were back in Indiana two weekends ago, my in-laws pulled the top layer of our wedding cake out of the freezer and sent us home with it.  My husband has been having a piece for dessert for the last week…

You guys probably know by now that my doggies and spending time on our boat are two of my favorite things.  Well, probably needless to say, but my husband has the same love for both as well.  When we first met 7 and a half years ago, doggies and boating/lake time were the two things that instantly connected us and and have kept us connected ever since.  I mean, I can understand (kind of) that some people don’t love water, but if you don’t love dogs, I’m not sure we can be friends. 😉

We have been soaking up a lot of lake time (our doggies included… they love the boat) this summer as we aren’t sure how much more time we will have in Dallas (my husband’s work moves us every couple of years).

We spent Monday evening on the lake and it was so nice.  The water is so refreshing right now and the weather is getting a tiny bit cooler (think 95 instead of 102 ;)).  My husband has been wakeboarding as much as possible and I just love cuddling with my pups in the sunshine.  We are so blessed.

Have a great day!

  1. Favorite animal?
  2. Are you a dessert person?
  3. What will you miss the most about summer?

Weekend Recap 9.19.16 Night Boat Cruise, Boulevarding, and Sushi

Good morning!  Monday is here again… it always seems to sneak up on us, but I will say that I feel well rested and ready to tackle this week.  I hope it goes by quickly because there is another wedding on the horizon for us.

Our weekend started with a little date night on Thursday night.  My husband and I had a late afternoon appointment so we decided to take advantage of the fact that we were already out and stop by a a new-to-us restaurant called Capitol Pub for a drink. I got a glass of champagne and my husband tried a draft beer.  He couldn’t resist the happy hour 1/2 priced pizza either. 😉

Friday evening we decided to hit the lake for a night cruise with a few of our friends.  The boys took turns wakeboarding and skiing and then we just drove around for a bit.  It was a beautiful night.

After a Saturday morning workout (tennis for my husband), we got cleaned up and headed to meet up with my sister, her boyfriend, and their friends.  We met them at Katy Trail Ice House for a quick drink before heading to SMU to the Boulevard.  College students and alumni gather on the long boulevard at the SMU campus before the football games and enjoy drinks, food, and good conversation.  It was a blast!

After handing out for a couple hours, we all headed to Sushi Axiom for some dinner.  My husband ordered this grapefruit/champagne martini for us to split.   It was pretty delicious.

I got a seaweed salad to start followed by some spicy edamame and my husband and I each ordered a couple rolls.  They were soo good!  We finished them all.

Sunday I headed off to church while my sister and husband headed to SMU to attend the celebrity tennis tournament.  They are both really into tennis so it was fun for them to see celebrities like Ben Stiller play tennis.

After church I ran a couple errands at Home Goods and Target before returning home to walk the pups, complete some house work, and catch up on the new series about JonBenet Ramsey.  Are you guys watching this?  It is pretty crazy.  We watched this sweet boy, Bailey all weekend and we are so sad to see him go.  He is so sweet and well-behaved.

That is all I have for today.  I hope you all had a great weekend and your week is off to a good start!

  1. What is your favorite sushi roll?
  2. Are you watching the new JonBenet Ramsey show?
  3. What was the highlight of your weekend?

Weekend Recap 9.6.16… Friends in Town!

Happy Tuesday guys!  It sure does feel like a Monday, but I am glad it is already Tuesday.  I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Labor Day Weekend!  Ours was a definitely a weekend for the books!

Friday night our friends from Cincinnati arrived in town and we went to a casual dinner at Yucatan, which I have been wanting to try for a while now.  I got a rice bowl with shrimp and it was really good.  Everyone loved their meals and we had a great time catching up with our friends.  After dinner, we had a lazy night at home just watching tv and playing catchphrase before calling it a night.

Saturday morning the four of us grabbed a dog (we were watching two over the weekend) and headed out for a run.  It was entertaining and everyone we passed thought we were in a dog parade. 😉 After a quick change, we packed some drinks and snacks and headed out to the boat for a day of fun in the sun.  There was a lot of lounging…

And the boys all took a turn wakeboarding…

We met up with our friend/neighbor who has a boat on the same lake as us and had a blast just hanging out.  The weather was perfect and the water was super refreshing!

After a full day at the lake, we headed home to get ready for dinner.  We had reservations at a new-to-us restaurant called Amberjax.  It is a seafood restaurant in an area of town called Trinity Groves.

This is the only picture of our group that I had from the entire night… the food was just too darn good to take lots of pictures because we were busy eating.

I started with a house salad and added some of the ahi tuna from my husband’s appetizer, which hit the spot!

Then I had the Mahi Mahi and it was fantastic!!  SO tasty! It was topped with a pineapple salsa that was to die for!

After dinner we went to Louie Louie’s Piano Bar for a bit before heading home.

Sunday morning we all completed a workout (@MooreNutritious) before showering up and getting ready for Top Golf!   We always take our Dallas visitors to Top Golf because it is always a blast.. even if you are not good at golf! I may (or may not) have a decent golf stance, but don’t let that fool you, I am horrible.  I think I whiffed it about 10+ times.  I came for the mimosas, not the golf. 😉

Luke teaching Mary how to swing.   She caught on so fast!

Love this sweet friend of mine!

I got this new dress from Forever 21 the other day and just love it.  It is lightweight and super comfortable and best of all, I think it was somewhere between $10-15!

Love this guy!

After Top Golf, we headed to Truck Yard for a drink with our friends and neighbor.

We had a fun time just chatting and listening to music.  After a couple hours, we headed home for taco night at our house then spent the rest of the night just hanging out on our rooftop playing games!

We had such an incredible weekend with our friends and are so grateful they came to visit.  Living far from family and friends can be really difficult sometimes, but we are very fortunate to have had a lot of visitors this year, which always makes me realize how lucky we are to have such amazing people in our life.  This week is a short one as we head out of town tomorrow for a wedding this coming weekend.  I am so excited to catch up with old friends and meet two of my friends babies that were born in the last year!  I hope to check in this week so I will see you soon!

  1. What was the highlight of your Labor Day weekend?
  2. Do you have a Top Golf near you?  Ever played?
  3. Do you have any weddings to attend this fall?

Weekend Recap 8.29.16 Baseball games, lake time, and sushi!

Happy Monday everyone!  How was your weekend?  My weekend was really nice, but too short as always!  Let’s back up to Friday and I’ll show you what happened around here the past few days.

During lunch on Friday, my husband and I had a date to workout.  We completed this workout from Moorenutritious (find them on instagram!) in our garage and it kicked our butts.  I am STILL sore from it.  It is quick, but very efficient = my kind of workout!

And ofcourse, there was a long walk with the pups afterwards.

Friday afternoon we drove our cars to get Kroger gas (my mom lets us use her fuel points once in awhile and we get gas so cheap) and I took my two trash bags full of clothes to donate in hopes that I would find a drop box.  Well, not only did I find a drop box to donate my clothes, but this particular one takes the clothing to a thrift shop that sells the clothing and all the profits go to the Texas Regional Animal Rescue.  Rescuing animals is one of my greatest passions (all of my pups – past and present- are rescues) so I was so excited to donate my clothes!

We had plans to attend the Rangers game with my sister and her boyfriend on Saturday night, but when we saw some good seats pop up on Friday night for a good price, we snagged them up and headed to the stadium.

The Cleveland Indians were in town all weekend and I’ve been an Indians fan since I was little (my parents are from near there) so it was really fun to see them in Dallas.

We ended up leaving during the 9th inning when it was 12 to 1 (Indians).

After a quick treadmill run on Saturday morning, I went to watch my husband play tennis at SMU.  It was extremely hot, but it was fun to watch.  Tennis is a sport that I really wish I was good at.

We were both pretty exhausted Saturday afternoon so we watched a couple shows and took some naps 🙂 before heading to the Saturday night game with the crew.

Love these peeps!

We had seats in the nosebleeds, but it was still really fun!

This is what you call a fair-weather fan… My husband asked me who I was rooting for.. and I said whoever is winning. 😉

My sister and I in our Indians shirts and Rangers hats. 🙂

After the game, there was a free Scotty McCreery concert so we stayed for a little bit of that.

Sunday after church, we headed out to the lake for some relaxing in the sun with our pups!

Then we got ready for a sushi date night!

It was half-priced sushi night so we got a bunch of rolls to split and they were all amazing!!!

After dinner, we hurried home to watch the season finale of The Night Of. We didn’t quite finish it (I kept falling asleep), but gosh I am loving this show.  It is soo good!!  Off to get lots of stuff done today.  I hope you all have a fantastic week!

  1. If you could be really good at any sport, what sport would it be?
  2. Are you watching The Night Of?
  3. What was the highlight of your weekend?

Lake Burton Trip With Friends Part 2

Good morning!!  Hope your day is off to a good start!  I have plans hang out with my mom and sister today so it should be a good one! But first I had to stop in and finish up my recap of our lake trip with our friends!

Saturday consisted of more boat time and docking up at our favorite little island for some fun in the sun and fetch with the pups!  Riley would stay in the water all day if he could.

This is what he looks like after a few hours of fetching sticks in the water… 🙂

While cruising around, we saw Nick Saban (head coach of the football team at the University of Alabama) on his boat being interviewed… yes, we tried very hard to get in the videos. 😉

Saturday night we had plans for dinner out so we put on our fanciest lake attire and headed out! 😉

Love these girlies!

We boated to the restaurant, which is always fun!

Boys in the front, girls in the back! 🙂

We went to the La Prades for dinner and like usual, it did not disappoint.  Rachael and I split the salmon and the grouper (I think) and both were delicious!

Rachael convinced me to try using her lipstain and I kinda liked it.  I usually am just a chapstick/lipgloss kind of girl, but the color is growing on me!

We had a flight on Sunday night that kept getting delayed (thankfully it didn’t get cancelled) so we were able to grab dinner with our friends at Carrabbas at the airport, which was a great ending to our trip!

We always have a blast at the lake, especially with our friends!! We are so lucky to have them!  Until next summer…

  1. Do you have annual trips with your friends?
  2. Do you wear lipstain/lipstick?
  3. What did you eat for dinner last night?

Lake Burton Trip With Friends Part 1

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday! Woo, we made it to the half way point!  This week has been physically and emotionally draining on me, but my mom comes into town today so I am really looking forward to seeing her and spending some time just hanging out around the house.  Yesterday I was able to squeeze in a last minute cupping session (you can read about my first one here) to help ease the pain in my neck and back.  It was glorious and the marks are not near as bad as the last time so I think that means my circulation is better?  Who knows.. but I did leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Two weekends ago we were in Georgia at the lake for a long weekend with some of our best friends.  We had friends come from Atlanta, Boston and Nashville to spend the weekend with us.  We are so blessed to have such amazing friends that will travel so far to spend time with us.  🙂 Today I just wanted to do a little recap of our fun weekend with our friends.

My husband and I arrived early on Thursday morning after our flight Wednesday night was cancelled (that has never happened to me before).  We grabbed our rental car and groceries and headed to the lake! We took a short boat cruise before our friends arrived.  Did I mention Riley got to come?  And he gave me so many kisses because he was so happy.  This dog just LOVES the water.

This view never gets old.

My husband and I cooked a simple dinner of tuna, salad and avocado before our friends began to show up!

Then I found the boys like this… #rufflife 🙂

Friday morning started bright and early with a workout crafted by my bestie, Rachel.  If you can’t tell, it was SO hard.  We were all dying by the end, but it was a nice way to start our day.

We spent most of the day on the boat cruising around and playing with the pups!

Friday night we had dinner at home that consisted of grilled chicken, salmon, asparagus, and roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes! so so so good!

We hung out on the boathouse after dinner before taking an evening boat cruise to the marina when we got word that Sammy Kershaw was playing a concert on the lake that night.  He is an old favorite of mine so I was really excited!

Ofcourse we had to have lots of cuddles with the pups before heading out.

Love my peeps!

This girl and I have so many memories from high school to a lot of Sammy Kershaw songs so it was fun to reminisce with her!

That’s all I’ve got for you today!  I’ll see you tomorrow to wrap up our trip!! Have a great Wednesday!!!

  1. What song reminds you of a past memory?
  2. Have you been to any concerts recently?
  3.  Do you take your pets (if you have any) with you when you travel?

Weekend Recap 8.9.16 Dixie Chicks concert, boat day, and girls night!

Hi guys!  I have missed you!  There has been quite a lot of stuff going on in my life recently, hence the lack of posting.  I am hoping things will be back to normal soon so I can get back to my regular blogging routine.  How are you guys doing?  Did you have a nice weekend?

I have a lot to catch you up on (like our last trip to the lake with friends and a family game night), but I thought I would catch you up on this past weekend first.  So let’s get right to it!

I don’t know about ya’ll but I used to be the biggest fan of the Dixie Chicks back in the day.  When I heard they were going on a reunion tour, I had to get tickets.  Unfortunately, tickets in our area (probably everywhere) sold out so fast then immediately skyrocketed in price on Stubhub and Craigs List.  I had no idea it would be so popular!!  The Dixie Chicks were in town on Friday evening so my husband and I kept an eye out for some decently priced seats all week.  With no luck, we decided to head to the concert and try to buy tickets outside (the cheapest seat online 2 hours before the concert was around $400… um I like the Dixie Chicks, but not that much).  We decided to buy two lawn seats and I am SO glad we did!

The concert was amazing!  They did play more new songs than I would have liked, but I got to hear most of my old favorites too.  I uploaded a couple short clips of my favorite songs from the concert to my youtube channel if you want to check them out!

Cowboy Take Me Away

Wide Open Spaces

And ofcourse I had to wear my new cowboy boots for the occasion.  🙂

Saturday started off with a Body Pump class while my husband played tennis.  We decided to go on a short boat ride in the early afternoon since it was such a beautiful day outside!

We explored a new-to-us part of the lake and saw the most beautiful homes.  One day…. 😉

And then we discovered this huge piece of land with lots of horses roaming around!

We cruised down the way a little bit and saw a spot where the horses could get in the water/drink the water.  One horse appeared.. then two, then three!  It was really so neat to see.

I did a lot of this before we headed back home.  Lake life is the good life! 🙂

After our boat ride, my husband met up with his friends and I met up with my sister and her friends for a pool party.  We stayed for a bit then went to my sister’s house to get ready for dinner.

We went to dinner with about 11 girls at Mi Cocina and waited in the bar area before our table was ready.

My sistaaa and me!

My sister and her sweet friends!

After a long wait, we were finally seated with complementary guacamole and queso… it was worth the wait!

I got a delicious salad with salmon and my sis got the fish tacos!  Both were incredible!!

After dinner we went to Louie Louie’s Piano Bar for some great entertainment.  It was so fun!

Most of Sunday looked like this…

With little butterball running around like crazy the whole day.  He is such a hoot!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  Our travel schedule is slowing down quite a bit this month, which I am more than okay with… We do have quite a few visitors coming this month, which should be fun!  Have a great day yall!

  1. What did you do this weekend?
  2. Any fun August plans coming up?
  3. Do you straighten or curl your hair more often?
