Tuesday Talks and The Biggest Thank You Ever

Hi friends!  I hadn’t planned on posting today, but I just couldn’t help myself after the response to yesterday’s post.  To put it simply, I am completely blown away.  I know I have a great support system around me, but wow.  I cannot say thank you enough for all the sweet messages, thoughts, and prayers from all of you.  I am beyond grateful.

I am still at home resting this week and have been feeling mostly good with a few stomach pains and some nausea at night.  I have another doctor appointment today with a GI specialist so I am hoping for more answers.

In the mean time, I’ve been staring at all these beautiful flowers.  Fresh flowers just make me smile.

IMG_8368

My sweet sister left this morning and I’m already missing her.  She is such a good caretaker and was by my side all weekend.  I was so happy she was able to go to the Preds game with my dad on Sunday so she could enjoy her visit a bit.  And the bonus is that they won in double overtime!  Can’t wait to watch the next game tonight! Go Preds!!

IMG_8370

I happily watched from my bed. 🙂

IMG_8373

You know the honey I mentioned in my last post?  Well my momma brought me a jar!!  It is the best honey I have ever tasted.

IMG_8376

Monday morning I woke up feeling pretty good so my mom, sister, and I walked to grab a coffee.  It is one of the few things I can drink/eat right now.  It tasted heavenly.

IMG_8377

When my mom comes over, there is ALWAYS pingpong involved.  Who will be her next competitor? 😉

IMG_8379

It has been very difficult for me to rest at home.  I can always think of things that need to be done.  Monday I mopped, vacuumed, dusted, cleaned mirrors, etc.  Today I am relaxing per my doctor’s orders.  On Monday afternoon my sister and I went to my dad’s to relax in the hot tub for a bit before heading to my little brother’s hockey game.  He was really excited to see my sister and see me out of the hospital.  He told me he was SO glad I was laying down in the hospital anymore. 😉  Sweetest boy ever.

IMG_8382

Now it is time to go rest up before my doctor appointment today.  I will keep you all updated.  And once again, I am just so thankful for all my friends (internet blogging friends too!) and family.  Have a great day, friends!!

Weekend Recap 3.4.18 … Birthdays, Walks in the Park, Family & Friend Time

Hey friends!!!!! How are you all doing?  How was your weekend?  I hope it was a good one!  Today is actually my Friday as my husband, sister, and her bf head out of town tomorrow until early next week for a much needed R&R.  I cannot wait!!!

Before I go I wanted to pop in with my usual weekend recap because this weekend was an especially wonderful one.  Nothing too crazy, but lots of time with friends and family, which just makes my heart SO happy.  The weather in Nashville was also amazing so that was the icing on the cake for a perfect weekend!

These pups were super spoiled last week with lots of time at work with daddy.  They both LOVE to go and get SOOO excited when he takes them in the mornings.  Callie and Riley both have a fan club at my husband’s office and they look forward to seeing their favorite people each time they get to go to the office.  The young girls in the office even took Riley for a lunchtime walk on Friday so he was so tired when he got home. 🙂

Friday night my husband grabbed a drink with a friend and I got in a treadmill incline walk before making some quinoa and veggies for dinner and calling it an early night.  My husband and I used to watch tv in our living room or basement each night after dinner, but lately we have been going straight to bed after dinner.  We do watch a little tv in bed before falling asleep, but I feel like such a grandma going straight to bed… usually in the 8 o’clock hour.  😉

When I give my dogs dentalife’s to chew on for their teeth they know they aren’t allowed to chew them on my rugs so they both run with their treats to the dog bed so I won’t take them away from them.  This is as close as we will get to them actually cuddling. 😉

IMG_7826

Saturday morning started bright and early with a workout followed by some baking with my momma!  My mom hosted book club at her house on Sunday so I helped her do some baking and she helped me bake a birthday cake for my little brother’s birthday dinner on Sunday night.  Here is the start of it.  Funfetti dyed 4 different colors (yellow, green, red, and blue).

IMG_7828

IMG_7855

While my husband was out playing golf with a friend, I headed to the park with the pups to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful weather!

IMG_7833

There were so many people and pups out enjoying the nice weather too!

IMG_7832

We spotted lots of turtles soaking up the sun.

IMG_7830

We stopped along the way to play a little fetch and Riley was loving life!

Once my husband got back from playing golf, we headed over to watch my little brother’s hockey game.  They won!!!

IMG_7841

After the game we went home to get ready for our friends to come over for a quick drink before we headed to the Gulch for dinner.  Riley didn’t waste any time making himself comfortable on our friend, Eric’s lap. 🙂  (The pups got haircuts this weekend so Riley is looking quite hilarious…)

IMG_7844

We went to Bar Louie for dinner to celebrate our friend, Jason’s birthday.  I got the pear and blue cheese salad with grilled salmon. yum!!

IMG_7845

Happy Birthday Jason!!!!!

IMG_7862

After dinner we walked on over to the Thompson Hotel and took the elevator up to the rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson, to meet up with more friends.  Love this guy!

IMG_7848

My sweet bestie, Rachael, and I on the rooftop. 🙂

IMG_7849

On Sunday we slept in then enjoyed some time on our front porch while the pups ran around.

IMG_7851

This guy LOVES the sun and hates when we make him come inside. 🙂

IMG_7852

My husband and I took the dogs on a walk to the park after breakfast to enjoy the beautiful weather.

IMG_0115 (2)

My husband had plans to take his little brother (from Big Brothers Big Sisters) to a movie on Sunday afternoon so the pups and I did some baking, cleaning and organizing around the house before heading back to the park for another walk.  What can I say… we all love the park on nice days!

Once my husband got home, we got ready to head to dinner with my dad, his girlfriend, and my little brother to celebrate my little brother’s 11 birthday!  He chose Carrabbas for his birthday dinner, which is one of my favorites too!  Why is he growing up SO fast?? Time needs to SLOW down!

IMG_7870

My friend, Rachael, sent me this picture that popped up on her timehop on Facebook last week.  This was us with my little brother at his 1st birthday party 10 (!!!!!) years ago. 😦

IMG_7847

I got the Johnny Rocco salad with grilled shrimp and scallops and devoured the entire thing.  SO tasty!

IMG_7867

After we ate, the waitress brought out the cake I made for my little bro while we sang Happy Birthday to him.

IMG_7873

We LOVE this kiddo!!!!

IMG_7877

I follow a lot of cupcake shops and bakeries on instagram so I decided to take a stab at a rainbow cake filled with sprinkles in the middle and it turned out so well!  My little brother loved it!  🙂 #favoritesister #atleastforonenight

Eating cake and opening presents!

A new video game and a $1,000,000 candy bar! 🙂

We had such a great weekend celebrating two amazing guys’ birthdays, enjoying the outdoors, and getting caught up and ready for another week!  I hope your weekend was fabulous too!!

Questions:

  1. Did you enjoy good weather this weekend?
  2. What was your favorite thing you did this weekend?
  3. Any trips coming up?

Weekend Recap 2.20.18 …. A Late Valentines Day Celebration, Hockey Games, and Fun Night With Friends

Good morning friends!!!  I hope you all had a great weekend and are feeling ready for the week ahead!  I got to bed later than normal last night, but I am still feeling pretty good this morning!  I know a lot of people hate Mondays (I do sometimes too), but usually they are a fresh start for me and I like that feeling.  Mondays are good days for me when I have completed my weekend to-do list and I feel prepared for the week.  I spent some time meal prepping, cleaning, and getting a few items checked off the to-do this yesterday so this Monday has started out great!

This weekend was a mix of relation and fun.  We didn’t have many plans and I was a-okay with that.  It is nice to not have committed to something and be able to make a last minute decision if I am feeling up to doing something on the weekend.  On Friday night though, I did have plans for a low key dinner out with my husband to celebrate Valentine’s Day since I was out of town for work on the actual day.  We had reservations for dinner at City Fire in the Gulch.  But before we left I was surprised with some flowers, a sweet card, and a new candle.  I am currently obsessed with candles!

We realized our reservation was during happy hour so I opted for a glass of wine and my hubby got a girly cocktail. 🙂

I got the ahi tuna salad and it was fantastic.  My husband got the trout with cheesy grits and polished his entire plate.  Needless to say, we were both so happy with our meals!  After dinner we headed home to watch a movie before bed.  It was the perfect date night.

On Saturday afternoon we went to watch my little brother play in a hockey tournament.

IMG_7737

He is so precious and I just love watching him celebrate when his team scores.  It is SO cute.  He turns 11 next month and I am going to cry just thinking about it.  #nevergrowup

They won their game on Saturday!!!!!!!

IMG_7740

Such a cute group of kiddos!

IMG_7741

After the game, my husband had plans with his little brother from Big Brothers Big Sisters to attend a sporting event so I took the time to relax at home with my pups.  Riley wanted to play fetch all evening.  His toy got stuff underneath this table and he just sat their whining and whining until I got it out.  They always want the toy they can’t get to. 🙂

IMG_7742

My husband went out to dinner with his little brother so I opted for a quick, easy meal of mahi and roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus.  We get the frozen mahi filets from Costco that have a yummy marinade on them.  We love them!

IMG_7744

After a walk with the dogs and a quick workout on Sunday morning, we headed back to the ice rink to watch my little brother’s team compete in the championship.  They tied, then went into over time and then lost in a shootout.  It was intense, but such a great game.  I like ice skating, but I am not the best (to say the least), but I can’t imagine having to control a puck and skate at the same time.  I can’t multitask like that. 😉

IMG_7745

After his game, my husband and I took my daddy out to lunch at Jacksons in Hillsboro Village.  I had the ahi tuna bowl with veggies and it was really good!  I just realized I ate a lot of tuna this weekend.  🙂

IMG_7746

After lunch my husband and I popped into a couple of the cute shops in Hillsboro Village before running some errands at Target and World Market.  After a little bit of shopping, we put  down the roof on our convertible and took it for a spin on the back roads of Tennessee.  It was a beautiful day for a joy ride!

IMG_7748

After we got home, we ate a quick dinner before heading out around 7pm to meet a few of our friends for some drinks and games at Clydes. We spent most of the evening playing shuffleboard, which was super fun.  It was nice to get out on a Sunday for once!

That about wraps up my weekend!!  I hope you all have a great week!!

Questions:

  1. What was the highlight of your weekend?
  2. Do you have work today on Presidents Day? I do, but my husband has off.
  3. Get anything accomplished off your to-do list this weekend?

A Sweet Little Date Night to Break Up the Week

Hey friends!!! How was your weekend?  Mine was so wonderful and I will get more into that with a weekend recap later this week!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it feels like the work week is never ending.  I am not one to have a ton of plans during the week (I like my time to relax with a book or a good show), but sometimes a night out during the week is good for the soul.

My husband and I were debating buying a season ticket package for the Nashville Predators this year and we ended up going for it.  I look at it as pre-planned date nights that break up the monotony of the work week.

On Thursday night we headed to a new sushi restaurant on the way to downtown for a quick dinner before the game. Thursday nights call for a some cocktails!

We got a few rolls to try… can you tell which ones are mine?  🙂 I loved that this sushi restaurant offered the option of brown rice rolls instead of white rice.

IMG_6889

We were a little worried when the Dallas Stars scored pretty quickly into the first period.

IMG_6890

But in true Predators fashion…. we came back and won the game!

IMG_6893

We also ran into my favorite kiddo.  I just love my baby bro!

We met up with him during both intermissions and watched him shoot some goals!

We left the game pretty happy!

IMG_6911

Boy do I have a story for you guys.  My husband (bless his heart) loves public transportation.  I mean don’t get me wrong, I love it in cities like New York and Chicago, but Nashville does not have great options so we usually just Uber everywhere we go.  Well Thursday night my husband had the bright idea to take the city bus home from the game.  We wait for about 20 minutes (we realized they only come every 30 minutes later in the evening and ended up running down the street after it to make it stop.  😉  We fought over who got to pull the cord to signal our stop, but we did finally make it home a little later. 🙂

IMG_6909

I just have to show you guys these pictures of my cousin’s little boy.  My mom spent the week in Long Island with my aunt, cousin, her husband and their precious baby boy.  I hope my mom got out all of her baby fever while she was there. 😉

Questions:

  1. If you have kids, how many do you have?
  2. What is your favorite date night activity?
  3. Since Halloween is later this month, what is your favorite type of candy?

Sports!! We Just Can’t Get Enough!

Hi friends!! Happy Friday!!  Hallelujah, the weekend is here! It has come at the perfect time because I am in need of a little break.   What about you guys?  How has your week been so far?  I got off work a little early yesterday and thought I would go home and finish getting our house organized… I was so wrong.  I went home to take a quick “nap” before attempting some cleaning and awoke 4 hours later.  I got up and ate dinner and watched the Preds game 😦 then went back to sleep a couple hours later and slept straight through the night.  I guess my body just really needed the rest.  I am feeling well-rested and ready for a nice weekend.

As you all know by now, my family is really into sports.  I grew up going to Titans games, Predators games, minor league baseball games, MLB spring training, the list goes on and on.  As much as I like attending sporting events, I am definitely not the athlete of the family.  I grew up playing soccer, softball, basketball, swimming, and cross country, but truly, I was never really good at any of them (and I didn’t really care ;)).  I played sports for the social aspect and the exercise aspect… definitely not the competitive aspect.  My sister was the pro soccer player and my little brother is the pro hockey player… you do not want to be in the car with them after they lose a game. 😉

Anyway.. the last few weeks have been filled with lots of sporting events so I thought I would show you a few!

My dad and I went to Bricktops for a quick dinner before the Predators game.  I got a delicious spicy tuna roll and a kale and quinoa side salad.

IMG_5453

This was the second round of the playoffs… I will say the playoffs were a whole new experience compared to regular season games… the crowd was standing almost the entire game.  It was reallly fun!

IMG_5458

My and my sweet daddy!

IMG_5463

Nashville’s minor league baseball team, the Nashville Sounds, opened a new stadium recently and we hadn’t been yet.  My husband had a tennis match he couldn’t miss so I took my mother-in-law, my dad, and my little brother last Thursday.

IMG_5477

The weather was just perfect!  This little boy LOVES getting pictures with the mascots.  My dad joked that we could make a whole book of pictures with my little brother and mascots from teams around the country.

IMG_8186

Reba, Johnny Cash and George Jones decided to show up too. 😉

IMG_5475

After a few innings, this little dude got bored so we walked around and decided to play mini golf.  They have a little course in the stadium, which is really nice for families with kiddos who can’t sit still for an entire baseball game.

IMG_5479

Each hole was uniquely designed.. this guitar shaped one was my favorite!

IMG_5484

As my dad always said growing up, “It’s a beautiful day for baseball!”  And last Thursday it sure was!

IMG_5486

Riley wants you guys to know that he is rooting for the Preds to win the Stanley cup… that game last night was a little hard to watch, but I am glad we at least made it to overtime.

IMG_8197

Thank you for letting me ramble on and on about how much my family just loves sports.  I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!! See you guys next week!!

Questions:

  1. Did you play any sports growing up?
  2. What professional sport do you watch/attend games most often?
  3. Any fun plans for the weekend?

Weekend Recap 2.27.17… Our First Visitors, Yummy Eats in Nashville, Predators Games and a Lot of Naps

Good Morning everyone!  I hope your week is going well so far!! I am quite aware of how sporadic my blogging has been lately and I sincerely apologize.  I am still trying to figure out how to fit it in my new daily schedule.

I have been super busy with work and trying to navigate through selling our Dallas home from our of the state while continually searching for our new Nashville home.  A little update on both ends… I probably shouldn’t  have spoken so soon with the contract we had on our Dallas home.  The buyer pulled out of the contract on the last day of the option period… It went back on the market last Friday and we actually got another offer on Monday and have come to an agreement with the new buyer.  Fingers crossed this one works out so we can really give our Nashville house hunting 100%.  We have gone to many open houses and toured a few houses in different neighborhoods with our realtor.  We are still pretty torn about exactly where we want to live (errrr…actually I think it is just that my husband and I have different opinions on best locations, new construction versus renovated, big yard versus small yard, etc.  Let’s just say our realtor sure does have her work cut out for her. 😉

Let’s back up to Friday night!  We met our realtor after work to tour a few houses.  Our biggest decision right now is if we want to pay top dollar for beautiful new construction that is basically on top of your neighbor or if we are willing to do some renovations.  I am willing to do cosmetic renovations, but knocking down walls is beyond our expertise. 😉  We have seen quite a few on both ends of the spectrum and Friday night was no different.

Afterwards, we met Jon’s brother and girlfriend at my dad’s house.  They were in town visiting from Des Moines, Iowa for the weekend.  After catching up briefly, we headed to The Yellow Porch for dinner.  They have a very enticing menu, but their specials page always draws me in!

I started off with a delicious beet and arugula salad with goat cheese and candied pecans. 🙂

img_4808

My husband got the mussels and devoured them.

img_4809

For my entree, I got the pan seared corvina.  Oh my gosh, it was simply amazing.  Ahh I want to go back so I can have it again!!!

img_4810

My husband got the stuffed trout and loved his meal as well.

img_4811

After dinner we stopped over at our friend’s house for a bit then called it a night.  On Saturday morning after a quick workout in the basement, my husband and I got to work on some breakfast.  Fresh cut fruit and cinnamon rolls were involved. 🙂

img_4813

After breakfast we bundled up and took the dogs for a long walk in the park.  When we got back, we lounged around for a bit before heading downtown for a late afternoon Predators game!  We may have a little hockey obsession over here.  We had really good seats so that always makes it more fun!

img_4818

Same couple selfie, different Preds game. 😉

img_4819

And heck yes we won!! I think I am good luck. 🙂

img_4820

After dinner we walked over to the Omni hotel because we had dinner reservations at a restaurant located inside called Kitchen Notes.

Oh! I totally forgot to mention about the most exciting thing that happened to me last week!  So I have a Predators jersey from the early 2000s when they had just been around for a little while, but it is in Dallas.  My dad got my husband a jersey for Christmas and I have been borrowing my brother’s jersey when we aren’t going to the game together.  Well… last Friday morning when I was working out in the basement, my brother came down to say bye to me before heading off to school.  He said he had a present for me before he left and he handed me a new Preds jersey that he and my dad had picked up Thursday at the game.  I almost started crying because it was such a sweet gesture.  🙂 🙂 🙂 Here I am on Friday night with my favorite new item of clothing!

img_4834

Once we were seated the waitress brought out a big basket of different types of bread/biscuits and jams/butter.

Okay I just now realized I got a beet and arugula salad two nights in a row.  I think I could probably have it every night now that I think about it.  Any salad with goat cheese and candied pecans will always be a winner in my book.

img_4839

For my entree I chose the salmon with the succotash.  It was so so so yummy!  I saved half of it for lunch the next day and it was just as good as the first time.

img_4841

After dinner we headed to Broadway for a little bar hopping and some live music.

img_4842

We met up with our friend Scott for a bit.  #meanmugging

img_4845

We took my brother-in-law and his girlfriend to a few of the famous spots downtown then called it a night around 11ish.  We are so fun. 🙂

img_4850

Sunday was spent catching up on laundry, doing some cleaning and house projects for my dad, meal prepping, doing stuff for our move, and taking a couple naps.  😉 It is nice to have a little downtime before another week begins!

I promise I will talk to you all before another week goes by!  P.S. I am still reading all of your blogs, but just haven’t had time to comment.  I am going to catch up sooner or later. 🙂

Questions:

  1. How was your weekend?
  2. Would you rather have new construction or a house that needs renovations?
  3. How many jerseys (if any) do you own?

Weekend Recap 2.19.17…Magic Show, Walks in the Park, Hockey Game, and House Hunting

Hi friends!! Happy Presidents Day!  Do you all have to work today?  My husband is off, but I do have work today.  I am a little jealous he gets to sleep in today.  But I will say that I feel pretty rejuvenated from the weekend and ready to start a new week!

My weekend was off to a pretty good start when I got to bring my little buddy to work with me on Friday!  He gets to come into the office with me every so often so that makes me really happy!!  He was pretty excited to get to go with me.  🙂

img_4741

Riley was exhausted after work and I found him like this right after we got home.

img_4749

For dinner I made seared tuna, brown rice, peas, and mushrooms.  It was such a yummy combo!

img_4762

Saturday morning I took an 8 am Body Pump class then my mom came over to help me work on a special project for my brother’s birthday.  And here she is feeding my dog’s cookies… 🙂

img_4753

After my mom left I got to work on some meal prep!  Kale salads with lots of yummy toppings for lunch this week!  This week I added hard boiled egg whites, beets, chick peas, carrots, peppers, celery, almonds, and avocado.  If we have fish for dinner during the week, I will add a piece to my salad.

img_4757

More overnight oats for breakfast.  I just can’t kick these right now.  They are so easy for a quick week day breakfast and they keep me full for a long time, which I love.

img_4758

After meal prepping, my brother, dad and I headed to the park with the pups.  It was a little chilly, but we were happy to avoid the rain!

plzw3167

My husband got back into town Saturday night (he traveled to Boston for work and spent an extra day with some friends of ours) and my little brother and I put on a magic show for him.  My brother got a magic set for Christmas and we learned a lot of the tricks this weekend.  It was pretty cute!

kfkm6550

This is a regular sight around here.  Riley LOVES my dad. 🙂 My dad isn’t really a dog person, but I think he is going to miss the pups when we move out. 😉

img_4768

Sunday morning we headed to the hockey rink to watch my little brother’s game.

img_4769

And ofcourse we had to make signs to embarrass cheer him on! Jacob’s fan club right here!

jqpl5890

After the game we came home, took naps, I got a workout in, then we headed out to meet our realtor to do some house hunting.  Then we headed out for a walk in the park because it was 72 degrees!  We are still in the early stages, but are getting excited!

That about wraps up our weekend!  I hope you all have a fantastic week and enjoy your day if you are off work!

Questions:

  1. How was your weekend?
  2. Do you have to work today?
  3. Did you get in any workouts this weekend?
