Friday Favorites 8.12.16

Happy Friday!!! Yay!! Is anyone else so excited that Friday is finally here?  It sure has been a long week for me, but my momma is in town so it has been fun too!  She got in on Wednesday when my husband left for a Bachelor trip with his friends so it’s going to be a girls weekend!

Today I wanted to share my current favorites with you all!

Favorite Food Obsession  – Seafood

I usually eat fish two or three times a week, but lately I have been craving seafood daily and have fulfilled my craving more than a couple times this week!

Last night my mom and I had zucchini pasta with sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic topped with her homemade cashew pesto and shrimp!  I’m having the leftovers for lunch!

Every time we grill salmon, I make a lot extra for a couple more meals so a lot of lunches this week have looked like this!  Different types of salads topped with grilled salmon!

Favorite Snack – Greek Yogurt

I go through phases with loving greek yogurt then not really liking it at all.  Currently, I am in a LOVE stage with greek yogurt and have been enjoying it at least once a day with nuts, fresh fruit and sometimes I top it with a little nut butter.  I love that this snack keeps me full for hours.

Favorite Activities – Dog Walks, Puzzles and Movies

Even though it is super hot in Dallas right now, I have been trying to get in one decent walk with my dogs every day to tire them out and get out of the house for a bit.  We all always feel better after moving for a bit!

My sister, mom, and I love to do puzzles so when they brought two over to my house Wednesday I was really excited.  We finished one last night then immediately pulled out the second one… we have quite an obsession.

Yesterday my sister, mom, and I went to go see Bad Moms.  It wasn’t quite as good as I was expecting it to be, but there were a lot of really funny parts.  The two tubs of popcorn we ate were very good though! 😉

Favorite Inspirational Quote

I saw this on Instagram the other day and it just really hit me.  There are plenty times in our lives when we go through tough times and have to make hard decisions, but it is important to just take it one day at a time.  Sometimes we feel like we need to do it all.  But we don’t.  We can’t be everything to everyone and it is important to be okay with that.

Favorite Type of Exercise – Interval Sprints on the Treadmill

I know most people hate the treadmill, but I love it.  I am such a baby when it comes to running in the cold or the heat and I usually do my running around 4 or 5am so it is also dark outside.  I love putting on a good show with my ipad and zoning out.  I have been walking at 4.0 for 1 minutes then sprinting at 8.5 for one minute then going back to 4.0 for one minute then sprinting at 8.6 for a minute, etc.  I just increase the sprint speed by .1 each time.  It leaves me so sweaty and feeling very accomplished.

Favorite Thing I Laughed About This Week

If you follow me on Instagram (tefrancy), you may have seen me post this picture.  I wear a mouthguard/retainer at night to prevent grinding my teeth and it always stays in place.  On this particular night, the mouthguard fell out of my mouth while I was sleeping and I woke up to hear my dog, Riley, chewing on it about 2 inches from my face.  Although I was a little bummed, I just had to laugh.  This pup cracks me up.  Although I know I won’t be laughing when I have to pay 3.5 times the normal amount  to replace it because insurance won’t cover me to get another one so soon.  Ah, what can ya do?   (Funny story: When I got the mouthguard a couple months ago, the dentist stressed the importance of keeping it away from my dogs and I remember saying, “My dogs don’t chew anything (they NEVER have) so I don’t have to worry about that…” Boy was I wrong!!) 🙂

Favorite Thing I Love About Being Home – My morning smoothie!

Although I absolutely love traveling, it has been so nice to be home and back into my normal routine.  I love starting my day with a workout followed by a big, filling smoothie.  This morning my smoothie had banana, peanut butter, spinach, flaxseed, ice, vanilla protein powder and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  It was so creamy and refreshing!

Favorite Instagram Inspiration – Ali Fedotowsky

I watched Ali on the Bachelorette and E! News and I love following her blog and Instagram.  She has such great style and her new little baby is precious.  I just about died when I saw her nursery and the beautiful wall covered in pink flowers.  #interiordesigngoals

Have a great weekend everyone!

Five Things Friday

Hi guys!! Happy Friday!! yay!  This week has been a long one and I am so happy it is finally Friday!!  How was your week?

I have been so busy running around like crazy getting ready for our upcoming trip tomorrow so I apologize for the lack of posting yesterday.  Today’s post will be organized in groups of 5!  Here we go!

Five Things Making Me Happy

  1. Target sales!  Yesterday I stopped by Target to get a new hat for our upcoming trip and ofcourse, ended up buying a lot more stuff.  Target is having BOGO 50% on shoes… and my favorite nice sandals are on their last leg so I purchased 2 new pairs!  (forgot to snap a picture).
  2. My puppies.  They love to cuddle and are just the sweetest.
  1. My neighbor is fostering a little lab puppy mix.  I played with it for 20 minutes last night and fell in love.  It is like 3lbs.  ahh!!
  2. My hubby is getting back from a work trip tonight!!  He has been gone all week so it has just been me and the pups.  So excited to see him!
  3. Going to the Caymen Islands tomorrow with our friends!!! Can’t wait!

Five Ways I Take Care of Body/Treat Myself

  1. Rodan & Fields skin care.  I started using Rodan & Fields last year per my sister’s recommendation and have never looked back.  I ran out of it for a few weeks and my skin was a mess.  I have tried a lot of different skin care regimens, but nothing works for me like Rodan & Fields.
  2. Massages.  I get a massage every once in a while, but I use my massage chair at home a few times a week.  It helps my back a lot and it is so relaxing for me.
  3. Daily Physical Therapy at home.  If you remember, I have been dealing with back/neck issues for a couple years now.  I see a Pain Management doctor (I have seen every type of doctor and done every treatment from acupunture to massage to facet injections to chiropractic work to dry needling to physical therapy) regularly and he encouraged me to do Physical Therapy at home every day.  I have been doing should/back exercises religiously and am really hoping it starts to make a difference soon.  My left side of my back needs strengthening.
  4. Daily walks with my pups.  As you know, I love to exercise (strength training and running), but I also love my low impact walks around our neighborhood.  My pups get SO excited for our walks and I do too!
  5. Getting my nails done.  I do not get my nails done regularly, but I like to treat myself before trips/special events.  The nail salon I go to gives you free champagne and a neck/head massage.  It is the best!  Got this bright red yesterday!

Five Things You May Not Know About Me

1. My husband and I lived in Salt Lake City, UT for 2 years and went to Park City to ski or hike almost every weekend.

2. It has always been a dream of mine to adopt.  I would love to have biological children as well, but I definitely believe everything happens for a reason.  I believe every child deserves to feel loved and be loved.

3. I eat avocado at least once a day.  Can’t. Get. Enough.

4. Miranda Lambert is my favorite female country artist.

5. Hockey is my favorite sport to watch.  I don’t love watching sports (I like people watching better), but I really enjoy hockey games.  I just love the fast pace of the games.  (Go Predators!)

Five Shows I Am Loving Right Now

  1. Shades of Blue.  One of my friends suggested this show and I have been watching a couple episodes every night.  Jennifer Lopez is amazing.
  2. Nurse Jackie.  My husband and I started watching this because we needed a new show to get into.  It is good, not great.
  3. Scandal.  Still loving this show, but will it ever end?
  4. Quantico.  Every time I think I know who the “bad guy” is, they throw you for a complete loop!  It definitely keeps me guessing!
  5. Real Housewives of Dallas.  Okay, I lied.  I am not loving this show at all.   It is pretty horrible and I actually do like some of the other Real Housewives shows.  I feel like I have to watch because I live in Dallas and I like seeing places they go that I know, but ugh, I just don’t love the cast.  At all.

Fives Recipes I Want To Try

  1. Megan’s Broccoli Cauliflower Chickpea Bowl with Tahini Lemon Sauce.  This is my type of meal!  The more veggies, the better!
  2. Michele’s Deviled Avocado Egg Salad.  I am loving hard boiled eggs lately.  And Avocado makes everything better.
  3. Moncia’s Protein Muffin Bites.  I love the simplicity of this recipe.  These would be perfect for a quick snack on the go.
  4. Gina’s Prickly Pear Margarita.  Need I say more? I’m feeling thirsty. 😉
  5. Tina’s No Bake Lemon Coconut Protein Bars.  I love lemon and coconut so why not put them together in a protein-packed snack?  yum!

Have a great Friday and weekend!!  My goal is to check in a couple times while we are on vacation, but we will see.  Just a heads up for the sporadic blogging next week.

  1. What is one thing making you happy today?
  2. What is one way you take care of your body/treat yourself?
  3. What is your favorite type of music?  Favorite artist?

3.My cousin’s (Kate) bachelorette party in Dallas.  There will be 10 girls staying at my house.  My husband is getting the boot for the weekend. 😉

4.Visiting our friends in Boston this summer.  I love Boston and Jon has never been so I am really looking forward to it!

5. A Napa getaway.  My husband and I fell in love with Napa when we visited a few years ago and have been dying to go back.  Since my husband travels so much for work, I got the companion pass on Southwest this year (I can go with him anywhere for free) so we are trying to make the most of it and get in a LOT of trips this year.
