Weekend Recap Continued … Let the Fun Continue

Hey there!! How is your morning going?  When this week began, I kind of thought Friday would never come, but here it is!  Woo!

I guess I should mention that Sunday our poor Nashville Predators had a sad lost that gave the Penguins the Stanley Cup.  We had a goal reversed (the ref made a really big mistake by blowing the whistle too early) and the Penguins scored in the last 2 minutes of the game to win.  But, even as sad as that loss was, Nashville is still singing the Predators praises!  This city really came together for our hockey team and I think next year will be another great season!  I am in the middle of trying to convince my husband that we need to get season tickets!  (Any help would be appreciated!! ;))

Last weekend Riley played with Otis’ toy the entire time.  He has a few toys that he likes, but he always loves other dogs’ toys.  They are just SO much more fun when they aren’t yours. 😉

Saturday night my husband got 3 dates for the concert. 😉  My friends, Lissa and Rachael, came along with us.  We had tickets in the suite again, which was so nice.  The food and drinks are great, but the private bathroom is the best part! 🙂

I took this picture of the venue, then realized sweet Jacob was hugging my dad.  So cute.

The boys came up to the suite and loved it too.

We saw a lot of good music on Saturday night too!  One of my favorites was Lady Antebellum.  They were soo good!

We also saw Thomas Rhett!  He is amazing in concert!  We also saw Brett Young, Chris Young, Maren Morris, and Florida Georgia Line.  If you like country music, you should definitely make a trip to Nashville for the CMA Fest because it is always a fun weekend!

Love my girlfriends!!  I finally had a great excuse to wear my cowboy boots! 🙂

My mom brought these beauties over from her house.  Aren’t they gorgeous??

Sweet Callie usually prefers me, but I caught her sleeping next to Jon the other morning. We have come a long way. 🙂

You guys… I have been loving salads for lunch lately.  Usually I am not a fruit on my salad kind of person, but this week I added strawberries and they made my salad soo tasty!  I can eat a salad every day for lunch, but it better have more toppings than lettuce or I will get bored of it quickly.  This week I added: strawberries, raisins, raw corn, beets, almonds, orange peppers and tofu.  Delicious!

My husband and I are off to Cincinnati/Indianapolis for the weekend.  I will see you guys next week!

  2. Any weekend plans?

Weekend Recap 6.10.17 The Best Weekend Ever!! Visitors, Canoeing, and CMA Fest!

Hi friends!! I hope you guys had an amazing weekend and are having a great week so far!  This past weekend was one of the best ones I have had in a while.  It was full of family, friends and FUN!! My kind of weekend.  Although, Monday and Tuesday at work were a little rough, but thankfully I am feeling like my normal self again after some much needed sleep. 🙂

Friday morning my sister and her boyfriend flew in from Dallas (along with Otis, their doggie).  After I got off work in the late afternoon, I met up with them at our house for some drinks and appetizers and a few games of ping pong.  Did I mention my husband bought a ping pong table for our bonus room?  He literally came home with it before we even had a couch in our living room.  😉 But I will say, it has been a fun thing to have when we have guests over.

Friday night, my sister, her boyfriend, my husband and I headed downtown to the CMA Fest!  My sister’s boyfriend surprised her with tickets and my husband’s boss took his whole office and their spouses.  We spent some time in the suite with my husband’s coworkers and then headed down to the lower level to hang out with my sister and her boyfriend.  The best thing about CMA Fest is that you get to hear a bunch of different people/bands perform.  Friday night we saw Kelsea Ballerini, Rascal Flatts, Sam Hunt (my sister and I agreed he was our fav!!), Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Eric Church and more!

We grew up going to concerts with my dad and it will always be one of my favorite past times.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for a fun-filled day ahead.  My sister, her bf, and I headed out for a quick run before beginning the day.  I LOVE having someone to run with.

A few hours later, we were canoeing down the river for my sister’s birthday! Her actual birthday was on Saturday so it was perfect timing to have a fun adventure to celebrate!  She and her boyfriend were in town for a wedding Saturday night so we had to pack in as much fun as possible before then!

The birthday girl and her special hat (my friend Rachael brought it for her to wear ;))!  Yes, we brought all the dogs… 4 in all.  They loved it… kinda. 😉

Riley sitting in Mimi’s lap… his favorite place to be.

We had such a great time!  The weather was perfect!  We stopped along the way to eat brunch (we brought a cake!) and drink some mimosas!

I will wrap up this post here and finish the rest tomorrow!  Have a great day friends!! xoxoxo

  1. What was the highlight of your weekend?
  2. Have you done any water sports this summer?  Boating? Canoeing? Water park?
  3. What is your favorite go-to week night meal?  (I am in a little rut and need some inspiration!)

Weekend Recap 6.6.17 … A Very Special Birthday and The Predators are in the Stanley Cup!!!

Hey guys!  I am spending the morning trying to play catch up with my pictures/blog from the past couple weeks.  I swear I will find a normal blogging routine one of these days.  We haven’t quite set a new routine after moving and have had so much going on in the evenings that it has been hard to find time to blog.

This was me last weekend sanding and painting an old table my mom had.  We need something to fill up the space in a corner of our living room and wanted it to match everything else.  One we get the house completely together I will show you it’s place.  We are having a housewarming party in a couple weeks so we are moving right along with finding a place for everything.  I love having a deadline to get our house ready or else we may have been living out of boxes for a little too long.

This was us watching one of the last Predators games at a bar.  But this last weekend, I got to watch the Stanley Cup in person!!

Before the game on Saturday, we headed out to Old Hickory Lake to celebrate my best friend, Rachael’s birthday.  She rented two pontoon boats for 30 of us.  It was such a blast!  Happy 27th birthday Rach!!

She may have had to be rescued after that picture. 😉

This guy was in his happy place.

After a few hours on the lake, we got dropped off to get ready for the game.

We hurried home and met up with my dad then the 3 of us headed downtown.  It was crazy downtown!! If you haven’t seen the pictures on the news, you should look them up!! Nashville really rallied together to support the Preds!!  It is days like Saturday that make me LOVE Nashville and all the people here.

We cut the end of the Alan Jackson concert then dropped my husband off to meet up with some friends.  Then my dad and I headed to the arena!

We got these light up bracelets in our seats and I hadn’t seen them before.  My dad told me I had to put it on and I soon found out why!  The whole stadium lit up to the music at the beginning of the game.

The bracelets lit up different colors and different levels of the arena would light up at different times.  It was truly beautiful.  The pictures definitely don’t do it justice, but I did get a couple videos that I posted to my youtube if you want to see!

The place was packed and we barely sat down the entire time!!

We got a little nervous when the Penguins scored in the first 3 minutes of the game, but thankfully the Preds were able to pull it together and ended up winning 5 to 1!!!! It was so incredible to experience the crowd going nuts and all the support behind the Preds!

It was a madhouse downtown after the game!!

We went and met up with my husband and some friends for a drink while we waited for the uber prices to go down a bit. 🙂

I am pretty excited to watch the game tonight!!!  Go PREDS!!

  1. Are you a hockey fan?
  2. Have you ever been to a Stanley Cup game?

Memorial Day Weekend… Only a Week Late :)

Hi friends!! I hope you all had a great weekend!  Mine was amazing and I will share it with you later this week, but first I need to back up to last weekend.  On Friday afternoon we packed up the car and the pups and headed south to Georgia for a long weekend with family.  Memorial Day weekend has been our annual family reunion with my husband’s side of the family.  We were so grateful they let us bring the pups since we could drive this year!

We took a boat cruise when we arrived and were so happy to be back on the lake.  My husband and I both agree that the lake is our happy place.  Between our families we have quite a few lakehouses to visit so we are making the rounds this summer.  One of the benefits of living in Tennessee versus Dallas is that we can drive to all of them!

Can you spy Riley in this picture?  This was probably 10 minutes after arriving. 😉  This doggie LOVES the water.

And this doggie loves me.  She never left my side the whole trip.  She is such a homebody and does not like to be out of her comfort zone… unless she is with her momma.

Riley playing on the duck!

I just had to show you all this picture.  I think Riley wanted off the duck and saw my husband’s head as his way off.  🙂

We had so much fun just relaxing with family at the lake.  It is so beautiful!

This is where I spent most of my time… Life has been quite crazy and busy lately that I haven’t had much time for reading so I allowed myself some downtime to just lay in the sun and read.  It was glorious!

We had lots of yummy food thanks to my mother-in-law and aunts!

Love my people!!

I hope you all have a fantastic week!! I will be back soon to recap this weekend (I went to the Stanley Cup game :)).

  1. How was your weekend?
  2. Are you a lake/beach person or a mountain person?
  3. Have you tried any new recipes lately?

Weekend Recap 5.21.17… First Dinner Guests and Fresh Raspberries

Good morning!! How is your week going?  I am pretty excited that we are halfway through the week because Friday we head to the lake (my husband’s aunt and uncle’s house) for our annual family reunion with my husband’s side of the family.  I am hoping for some good weather, fun times with family and time to unwind because it has been go go go the last few weeks for us.

This past weekend was pretty relaxing though.  We were very productive, but also had time to relax and hang out with some friends.  We have been taking the dogs to a nearby dog park a couple times a week and they love it… for about 5 minutes.  Then both of the dogs come and lay down by us… We have been standing on opposite sides of the park and calling the dogs back and forth to get them a little exercise. 🙂

Can you spy Riley?  If we ever can’t find him, we know to look where the sun in shining… this little pup loves sun bathing. 🙂

On Friday we got a new couch my husband ordered… all the seats recline and while I must say it is not very pretty, it sure is comfy!  It’s in our basement, which has now become our movie room.

I made this salad for dinner the other night and my husband and I both loved it!  You make a grapefruit vinaigrette to go on top and it is just delicious.  I added the raw corn and goat cheese because… well why not?

Saturday we went to my mom’s house for some raspberry picking!  Besides getting pricked by the little thorns on the plant, it was kind of fun!  Fresh raspberries are the best!  The blueberry bushes are the ones behind the fence and I can’t wait for those to ripen in a few weeks!

Saturday evening our favorite couple, Rachael and Eric, came over for dinner.  The girls cooked and the boys played ping pong.  They brought over their sweet pup, Cooper, and another pup the were watching, Pierre.  It was doggie heaven, which always makes me soo happy!

We may have cooked a little too much food.  We made salmon, chicken, roasted mushrooms, a huge salad, roasted asparagus and zucchini.  Leftovers for everyone!

The even brought us some flowers!  So many that I could make two arrangements.  Don’t you just love fresh flowers?  I sure do!

The boys and 3 out of the 4 pups.

After a few games of pingpong and lots of chatting, we finally said goodnight around midnight.  Rachael took our picture on our new front porch. 🙂

We have seriously been waiting forever to be able to live close to friends and family and now that the move is finally over, I can officially say nights like these make all the stress of moving worth it.  🙂

A Quick Catch Up: Long Time No Talk

Hi friends!! I have missed you all in these past few weeks!! We officially have internet in our new house so expect to see me poppin in a little more regularly from now on!  I still haven’t quite figured out a blogging schedule yet, but hopefully I will get into a grove these next couple weeks.

I need to take a minute to say Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all you fabulous momma’s and momma’s to be!  My mom has spent the last two weeks getting our new house organized and furnishing it with all kinds of new stuff we needed.  My mom event went shopping with us on mother’s day for our house.  She is truly one of a kind.  My mother-in-law visited us for a week (she left on Friday) and helped us get together a few rooms in our new house too.  If it weren’t for my mom and MIL we would seriously be living out of boxes for at least the next 6 months.  Mary and Cathy, we owe you our firstborn. 😉

See, here’s the proof that it took a village to get through these boxes…. this was probably 1/4 of them!

This is what our kitchen looked like during the move… I can’t even count the hours my mom spent measuring and cutting shelf liner to line all 253 shelves and drawers in our kitchen and bathrooms.  😉

I have to show you guys this picture for a couple of reasons.  1. I told you about how one of my dogs was putting my shoes on the bed while I was away when we were staying at my dad’s house… well I found the official culprit!  My husband took our other dog, Riley, to work last week and Callie was home alone for the day.  I came home to a few of my clothes (dirty workout clothes) pulled out of my hamper and strewn about on my bed along with a few of my shoes.  I went looking for Callie and found one in the basement and when I went into the guest room, I found Callie along with my other running shoe right next to her.  My husband keeps telling me to close our bedroom door when I leave, but I kinda think it is really funny to see what she has moved each day when I get home. 2. This is our old second guest bedroom set and we found a great deal for new sheets at Bed Bath and Beyond this weekend so we decided to give our guest bedroom a makeover.

Here is the new look! I am loving whites and grays and anything neutral for this new house.

We aren’t quite done organizing yet, but we did get our bedroom put together finally!

We may still need a couch or two, but don’t worry, my husband came home with a ping pong table the other day…. men… We went to Southeastern Salvage on Saturday and got 4 new rugs!  I just love the color of this outdoor rug for our deck!

Since our new yard is fenced from the front to the back, we can now just let the dogs out and not worry about them.  The other day I couldn’t find Riley and went looking for him and found him just lounging in the grass in the backyard.  It is safe to say he is loving the new house  yard.

I have lots more to show you guys, but I have to wrap up this post now.  I talk to you all soon!! Thank you so much for sticking around through this crazy hectic time right now.   I truly appreciate each and every one of you. 🙂

Weekend Recap 3.26.17 … House News, A Comedy Show, A Migraine, and Yummy Food

Good morning friends!!  How was your weekend?  I could definitely use an extra day as I was a little under the weather for most of Saturday.  I had a terrible migraine that was so intense if I was not laying down in a dark room.  😦  I am feeling much better now so I am happy about that!

Last week, my husband and I went to the Predator’s game on Monday night.  We grabbed an early dinner at Amerigos before the game.

We won!!!  I always tell my dad and husband that I am good luck and so far that year that has been pretty accurate. 😉

My week was pretty uneventful… this is what the weather in Nashville looked like a few days last week and the forecast is calling for more rain.  😦

We were able to go do a little house hunting last week and we found one we really like and are officially under contract!!  It is new construction so we are hoping there won’t be any issues with the inspection (fingers crossed) and we actually got to pick a few of the finishes so that was fun!  We still have about a month before closing so we are hoping nothing goes wrong before then. 🙂 I will show ya’ll pictures once we get all moved in.

One of my easy go-to meals is pan seared salmon, roasted sweet potatoes, and stir-fried veggies with tamari (gluten free soy sauce).  I just used what I had on hand – onions, garlic, zucchini and asparagus.

I always make extras so I can have some for lunch or dinner the next day.

I walked in on this cute sight the other day and had to snap a picture.  This girl loves her daddy.  🙂

We got in a couple evening walks this past week.  I am loving how light it is when I get home from work now.

Isn’t nature just beautiful?

My husband was dying to go back to Kyoto for some sushi so we had a sushi date night on Friday night.  It was amazing as always.

We went to the new house on Saturday morning with the builder to go over a couple of things.  They are building a fence around the house for us so we had to explain our vision to them.  After that I spent the next few hours nursing my migraine and trying to sleep it off.  It wasn’t completely gone, but we had plans to go to Zanies comedy club.  We saw Kevin Pollak.  He was pretty funny, but the two openers were better in my opinion.

Sunday we went to show my dad and brother the new house and then did some furniture shopping.  Our new house is almost all hardwood (except the basement) so we are going to need some rugs!  We found quite a few that we like so we will be back to get them soon.

We also went to a few stores to look at new couches and dining room tables.  My husband is going to build us a farmhouse dining room table, but we wanted to look at a few different options before he starts the process.  These are a couple that we like.

My sweet hubs got me a smoothie for the ride so I didn’t get hangry. 😉

Last night we did some grilling (salmon for me, chicken for the boys and veggies for all) and it all turned out so yummy.

Riley loves to sleep under a blanket at the edge of the bed or couch.  Last night was no different. 🙂

I am up super early to drop my husband off at the airport for a business trip so I better get going!  I hope you all have a great week!!
