Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday, friends!!!  Who else is a little excited for the weekend to be here?  We have a few plans scattered throughout the weekend that I am looking forward to, but I also hope to have some down time so I can start a new book my momma recommended.  I get all of my book recommendations from her. 🙂 . She reads at least a book a week, but usually more.

Today is just going to be a compilation of things I am loving lately so be prepared for a scatter-brained post. 😉 Here we go…

SOUP!  I have been on the biggest soup kick ever.  I have been making a huge weekly batch to have throughout the week and if we happen to have any leftover (this rarely happens since we eat it for lunch and dinner A LOT), I just freeze it for an easy meal in the future.  I have been making a vegetable soup for a couple months now and I think I have finally nailed down the recipe (fresh herbs make all the difference) and my favorite add-ins so be on the lookout for a recipe coming your way very soon!! PS this soup is husband approved too! 🙂

Have I told you all how much I love Wayfair?  We have ordered A LOT of furniture from their site over the years and I just can’t get over it.  It is very inexpensive and nice, quality stuff.  We have been searching around for 2 chairs for the end of our homemade dining room table for the past few months without much success.  A couple weeks ago we found these chairs on sale and decided to just go for it and they ended up being perfect for our table!

They are a soft, faux-leather material that are stylish and comfortable, but also functional and very easy to clean (which is so important to me).

While I love the benches, we wanted to add chairs for guests that have a hard time sitting on a bench for a while (and for my bad back).  Riley approves too. 😉

We also snatched up this cute little bench for underneath the window in our living room.  I like it, but it is a bit small for the space so I am going to switch it out with the bench at the foot of the bed in the master bedroom and see what that one looks like in this space.

I’m ready for Easter and spring!!!  Who’s with me?  With the nice weather that has been teasing us lately, it has made me more ready for spring/summer than ever before.  I am so ready for nice, long, evening walks with my pups, beautiful days at the pool with my mom, long weekends at our families lake houses, fresh produce from my mom and stepdad’s garden, the list goes on and on.  I found some easter grass and eggs at the store the other day and decided to fill up a couple of vases to add some spring decor to our house.  🙂

On Wednesday night, my husband and I met up with my dad for dinner at Green Hills Grille (one of my favorites) to discuss some possible business ventures in the near future (I will keep you posted!!).  I had the spinach and goat cheese salad with grilled salmon and it was SO good!

My dad surprised us with this beautiful, framed picture he took a couple years ago when he and my brother took a trip to Oregon.  Now I am on the hunt for a place to hang it!

Only two days of work next week then a long weekend trip with my sister, her boyfriend, and my husband!  I can’t wait!!  I hope you all have an amazing weekend!!!!

  1. Any fun things planned for the weekend?
  2. Favorite place to shop for furniture?
  3. Have you guys seen any good movies lately?

Friday Favorites… Lots of Pictures & Is It Fall Yet?

Good morning friends!!  Happy Friday!!  I hope you have all had a nice week and have a fun weekend planned! We are heading to the airport early tomorrow morning for our friends’ wedding this weekend!! I just love weddings!

Today is a random mix of pictures of my favorite things lately!  The first one is my favorite dinner lately… roasted (burnt) sweet potatoes with a salad and a homemade quinoa burger (no recipe… I just threw a bunch of ingredients together).

Ya’ll… my husband.  He has been having foot problems this last year and the latest contraption to help with the pain is this boot he has to sleep with.  I have to wear a neck brace at home every once in a while to help with my neck and back pain.  Between the two of us, we are looking reeeeeeal cute. 😉

Coffee dates with my momma!  Last week my mom had to pick up her car from the dealership and she swung by and picked me up for a coffee date!

This picture was taken in the car on the way back from the lake a couple weekends ago.  Riley wanted to be in the seat belt with me sitting like a human.  He cracks me up.

We went to Bricktops the other night when my mother-in-law was in town and I just could not resist the ahi tuna and stir-fried veggies.  So yummy!

Have you all been experiencing colder temperatures this week?  Until this morning it has been quite chilly on my morning walk with the pups, which has gotten me in the mood for fall!  Fall is definitely my favorite season so I just had to pull out some decorations!  I got this cute table runner at Home Goods last week on sale!

For our two year anniversary this week, I stuck with the “cotton” theme and got my husband a couple new shirts for work.  He didn’t go with the theme and got me another matching wedding band that I have been wanting since we got married!  I was so shocked (and happy he ditched the “cotton” theme).

This is what I walked in to find yesterday before bed.  Riley is quite the spoiled diva, but I just love him.

I told you guys I am always surrounded by the pups in bed and here is the proof.  We 3 share 1/3 of the bed and my husband has the other 2/3.  🙂

Thanks for putting up with all my randomness today!  I hope you all have a great weekend and I will be back next week!! xoxoxo

Friday Favorites… Doggie Addition

Hey friends!  It’s always a good feeling when Friday rolls around!  We are spending the day indoors because it is FREEZING here in Dallas!  No snow, but 24 degrees is just too cold for this girl.

We don’t have many plans this weekend, which I am perfectly okay with!  I am hoping to convince my husband that we need another movie date soon!  We went with my sister and her boyfriend last week to see Office Christmas Party and it was pretty good!  I just love every movie with Jennifer Aniston in it.

Today’s Friday Favorites is all about the little fur babies in my life.  Ok, a lot of posts have an overwhelming number of pictures of my doggies, but what can I say, I love them!

Did I show you guys this picture already?  Well if so, it is just too cute not to show you again.  Little butterball sleeping with his tongue out.  We went to the dog park that day and he finally got tired after hours of running and fetch.

We have been in the car A LOT this week with showings for our house… sometimes we go to the park, but sometimes (when it is FREEZING) we stay in the car.

This is how Riley feels about me taking his picture…

Then he sticks his tongue out at me…

Then his sister decides to stick her tongue out too…

Finally a decent one.. even though they look SO bored. 🙂

And a view of downtown Dallas from one of our favorite parks, White Rock, where we take the dogs on walks.

Time to go tackle my to-do list!  Have a great weekend!! Stay Warm!

  1. What are your plans this weekend?
  2. Have you seen any good movies lately?
  3. Do you have any pets?

Friday Favorites

Woop!  It’s Friday!!  Who else is ready for the weekend?  Technically it is already my weekend since I don’t have to work today, but I have lots to do today so it doesn’t quite feel like the weekend yet.  I am looking forward to hopefully one last boat day for the year this weekend and hanging out with some friends Saturday.  It is nice to not have to travel this weekend so I am soaking up my time at home.

I just have a lot of random thoughts in my head at the moment that I need to tell you guys so this post is going to be a bit all over the place. 🙂

  1.  It is finally starting to feel like fall in Dallas.  I had to wear a jacket to the gym this morning.  We even slept with the windows open last night!
  2. You guys, I did it again.  I overcommitted with my dog sitting acceptances.  There are a total of 6 dogs in my house right now.  It is an absolutey zoo.  My dogs are terrified. 🙂

But I kinda love it at the same time. 🙂

3. I’m obsessed with candles right now.  I have been lighting them in the evening and something about it is just so peaceful.

4. I have a really fun guest post coming to ya next week.  🙂

5. My husband and I love to play cards at night.  Our favorite game is rummy.  Do you guys know any other 2 person cards games besides 21, war, or go fish? 🙂

6. I pulled out my spiralizer this week and made a beautiful and delicious creation.  Recipe will be on the blog next week!

7. I love modern art.  I had to work downtown yesterday and this piece was in the office.  I wish I was that talented!

8.  Do you guys have a fitbit or step tracker?  Every week I join a work week step competition with a handful of girls and it is so fun seeing who gets the most steps.  My mom recently joined it and she calls me regularly to tell me what place she is in.  🙂

9.  I am so ready for this election to be over.  Enough said.

10. I have a really good recipe for butternut squash soup that is delicious and healthy.  Want me to share it soon?

11. Even though I am starting to crave soup as the colder weather approaches, I still love my salads.  With all the fixings!

12. I had this salad for lunch the other day and I can’t stop thinking about it.  I am not a huge cheese fan, but goat cheese makes everything taste better.

  1. Favorite soup?
  2. Favorite kitchen appliance?
  3. Favorite card game?

Friday Favorites 8.12.16

Happy Friday!!! Yay!! Is anyone else so excited that Friday is finally here?  It sure has been a long week for me, but my momma is in town so it has been fun too!  She got in on Wednesday when my husband left for a Bachelor trip with his friends so it’s going to be a girls weekend!

Today I wanted to share my current favorites with you all!

Favorite Food Obsession  – Seafood

I usually eat fish two or three times a week, but lately I have been craving seafood daily and have fulfilled my craving more than a couple times this week!

Last night my mom and I had zucchini pasta with sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic topped with her homemade cashew pesto and shrimp!  I’m having the leftovers for lunch!

Every time we grill salmon, I make a lot extra for a couple more meals so a lot of lunches this week have looked like this!  Different types of salads topped with grilled salmon!

Favorite Snack – Greek Yogurt

I go through phases with loving greek yogurt then not really liking it at all.  Currently, I am in a LOVE stage with greek yogurt and have been enjoying it at least once a day with nuts, fresh fruit and sometimes I top it with a little nut butter.  I love that this snack keeps me full for hours.

Favorite Activities – Dog Walks, Puzzles and Movies

Even though it is super hot in Dallas right now, I have been trying to get in one decent walk with my dogs every day to tire them out and get out of the house for a bit.  We all always feel better after moving for a bit!

My sister, mom, and I love to do puzzles so when they brought two over to my house Wednesday I was really excited.  We finished one last night then immediately pulled out the second one… we have quite an obsession.

Yesterday my sister, mom, and I went to go see Bad Moms.  It wasn’t quite as good as I was expecting it to be, but there were a lot of really funny parts.  The two tubs of popcorn we ate were very good though! 😉

Favorite Inspirational Quote

I saw this on Instagram the other day and it just really hit me.  There are plenty times in our lives when we go through tough times and have to make hard decisions, but it is important to just take it one day at a time.  Sometimes we feel like we need to do it all.  But we don’t.  We can’t be everything to everyone and it is important to be okay with that.

Favorite Type of Exercise – Interval Sprints on the Treadmill

I know most people hate the treadmill, but I love it.  I am such a baby when it comes to running in the cold or the heat and I usually do my running around 4 or 5am so it is also dark outside.  I love putting on a good show with my ipad and zoning out.  I have been walking at 4.0 for 1 minutes then sprinting at 8.5 for one minute then going back to 4.0 for one minute then sprinting at 8.6 for a minute, etc.  I just increase the sprint speed by .1 each time.  It leaves me so sweaty and feeling very accomplished.

Favorite Thing I Laughed About This Week

If you follow me on Instagram (tefrancy), you may have seen me post this picture.  I wear a mouthguard/retainer at night to prevent grinding my teeth and it always stays in place.  On this particular night, the mouthguard fell out of my mouth while I was sleeping and I woke up to hear my dog, Riley, chewing on it about 2 inches from my face.  Although I was a little bummed, I just had to laugh.  This pup cracks me up.  Although I know I won’t be laughing when I have to pay 3.5 times the normal amount  to replace it because insurance won’t cover me to get another one so soon.  Ah, what can ya do?   (Funny story: When I got the mouthguard a couple months ago, the dentist stressed the importance of keeping it away from my dogs and I remember saying, “My dogs don’t chew anything (they NEVER have) so I don’t have to worry about that…” Boy was I wrong!!) 🙂

Favorite Thing I Love About Being Home – My morning smoothie!

Although I absolutely love traveling, it has been so nice to be home and back into my normal routine.  I love starting my day with a workout followed by a big, filling smoothie.  This morning my smoothie had banana, peanut butter, spinach, flaxseed, ice, vanilla protein powder and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  It was so creamy and refreshing!

Favorite Instagram Inspiration – Ali Fedotowsky

I watched Ali on the Bachelorette and E! News and I love following her blog and Instagram.  She has such great style and her new little baby is precious.  I just about died when I saw her nursery and the beautiful wall covered in pink flowers.  #interiordesigngoals

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday ya’ll!!! Woo! This week actually went by pretty quickly for me, but I sure am happy for the weekend.  I am excited to sleep in a little bit (past 4am!!) and not have too much on the agenda.  Tonight we have plans for a drink with our new neighbors and then we are just going to relax and probably catch up on a few shows. 🙂

Today is all about Friday Favorites!  This post recaps all my favorite things from this week!

  1. Kombucha.  I love this Synergy brand and the Trilogy flavor is my favorite.

2. These coconut chips from Trader Joe’s.  I just can’t get enough and I don’t think I have ever eaten only half the bag (1 serving) in a single sitting.  They are just too addictive.

3. This book.  My mom suggested I read this book and I have been really loving it so far.  I am excited to find out what happens next!

4.  This sweet girl we have been watching.  She is full of energy, but will cuddle with you anytime you want.  I will be so sad to see her leave today. 😦

5. A yummy, well-rounded breakfast I had this week.  Lots of fresh fruit (watermelon, cantelope, straweberries, mangoes, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, and pineapple) and a 1 egg + 2 egg white scramble with salt, pepper, chili powder and avocado!  Carbs, healthy fats, and protein = delicious!!

5. My nephew doggie, Otis, has a new girlfriend.  Her name is Maddie.

6. Snack and coffee time combined! Earlier this week, I was hungry for a snack, but also needed a little caffeine to power me through the morning.  I combined my cup of coffee in the blender with this smoothie and the result was so tasty!!  It was kind of like a frappuccino without all the calories and added sugar.

7. This video of Otis chewing the bone.  He was going to town.  This went on for hours.

8. New flavor additions for my morning green smoothie.  Almost every morning I have a big smoothie to start my day.  I always add spinach, flaxseed, frozen banana, and water.  The rest of the fruit that I add is dependent upon what I have at my house/what was on sale at the store that week.  This week I added peaches and pineapple (I bought a TON of both fresh because there was an amazing sale) that I chopped up this week and froze to have on hand for smoothies.  The peaches and pineapple were a great flavor combination making my morning smoothie so delicious!

That wraps up my favorites from this week!!!  I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday ya’ll!!  I feel like this week has gone by really quickly!  My Friday started on a really good note because I set my alarm earlier and got in a 30 minute interval workout on the treadmill this morning.  It is always nice to be done with my workout before my day really begins.

Today I have a lots of random thoughts so I just decided to make this post a “favorites” post to highlight some happenings over here.

But first, I have to take a second to say Happy Birthday to my sweet sis.  You are so amazing and have accomplished so much already!  I am so proud of you and I am so lucky to have you as my best friend!!

Although  we can’t be in the Caymens on a pirate ship, I hope your day is filled with sunshine, fruity drinks, and lots of fun!  You deserve it!  Love you to the moon and back!

Friday Favorites!

  1. Lots of doggies at my house this week!  3 left, 2 more came and 1 more comes tomorrow!  I just love a house full of doggies, they just know how to put me in a good mood. 🙂

2. Hanging out on our roof top.  The weather in Dallas has been so nice (and hot) so we have been taking advantage of relaxing on the roof… with the pups… and our water mister fans!

3. Happy hour on the roof.  Last night my husband and I enjoyed a few cocktails on the roof before dinner.  I had champagne with blueberries, my fav!

4. Darts with my husband.  My husband and I love to play darts.  Last night I actually beat him, which is a rare occurrence over here.  🙂

5. It’s the little things.  I had to go let my doggie nephew, Otis, out the other day and when we got back inside I gave him a treat (or 3!).  I just love the sweet obedience of dogs when they really want a treat.  It is very hard to say no to that face.

6. Roasted veggies. When in doubt for a dinner side, I just toss some veggies with olive oil, salt and pepper and pop them in the oven.  So yummy!

7. This bathing suit from Nordstrom.  I usually don’t spend much on swim suits (Thank you, Target), but I really like this one.  I’m just not sure how it will look on me.  I also don’t love online shopping for swim suits.  Hmm, what you do guys think?  Do any of you have a one piece bathing suit?

Well that is all I have for today!!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and have some time to spend outdoors!

  1. Do you like to play darts?
  2. Favorite dinner side?
  3. Any fun plans for the weekend?
