28 weeks, Doggie Door, and Pregnancy Side Effects

Hey friends!! How are you? How was your weekend and week? Ours was great, but went by way too fast. We spent Saturday working around the house – bagging leaves outside, giving the dogs haircuts, power washing our sidewalks, and my husband installed this doggie door in our living room.

Riley (our senior doggie) has been wanting to go outside then 2 minutes later he is scratching on the door wanting to come back in. And repeat. All.day.long.

So we decided enough is enough and he needs a dog door so he can come and go as he pleases. My husband started researching some dog doors but since our back door is glass, it was going to be pretty expensive to add a dog door or we would have to replace the whole door.

So we ended up just ordering a dog door from PetSmart and installing it ourselves (ok my husband did it all). It took him a couple hours.

All week we have been letting them out the door and trying to teach them to come back in when they want through the doggie door.  Callie figured it out the fastest and Riley and Tito are still learning… so Jon and I have spent a lot of time hanging out by the dog door with treats trying to teach the puppies. 🙂

Yesterday marked 29 weeks (the blog is always a week behind…) and yall, I am feeling it. I am still feeling good overall…still exercising and not having any real pain, but I have been hit with extreme exhaustion like the first trimester again. My work has really picked up so I think it could be that too. Other than exhaustion, the heartburn the last couple weeks has been horrible. I am having a hard time keeping food down especially after lunch and dinner and have been avoiding greasy and spicy foods. It is honestly just all food at this point. The only relief I get is walking after meals so I have been walking at least a mile after lunch and a couple miles after dinner outside with the pups or on my treadmill while I work. It seems to help quite a bit, but now my legs are exhausted after a few days of all that extra walking. LOL… it is always something.

My husband and I joked that I am going to end up losing/not gaining weight this trimester because of all the walking I am doing because of the heartburn. I am up about 18 lbs right now and my doctor said I am measuring on track so that is a relief!!

I didn’t tell yall, but I actually failed the 1 hour glucose test. UGH. So my doctor scheduled me for the 3 hour glucose test this week and thankfully I found out that I passed it so no worries about gestational diabetes. For the 3 hour test, you have to drink the same sugary drink again (which I didn’t mind), but you have to sit at the doctor’s office for 3 hours and get your blood drawn 4 times. I don’t mind blood draws, but 3 hours of not being able to drink water or eat anything after that extremely sugar drink on an empty stomach was ROUGH. I had to go lay down in my car a few times to avoid puking. The nurse said that a lot of women don’t finish the test because they get so nauseous and throw up and end up having to go back and do it again. I told her don’t worry, I will be finishing this test because I am absolutely not doing this again. Thankfully, I made it. Ha!! 🙂

We are starting to get ready for the baby to actually be here by organizing the nursery, ordering post partum supplies, and this week we got to do an interview with a pediatrician. My husband and I both really liked him and his office is really close to our house so another thing we got to check off the list!!

Another long day of work today, but TGIF!! My sister is actually coming into town tonight for one of her friend’s birthday’s tomorrow so that will be fun to see her. I have plans with a friend tomorrow then plan on just relaxing this weekend and probably walking a lot too. ;).

I hope you all have a great weekend with beautiful weather!! Tell me what your plans are!! XOXO
