Surprise Baby Shower for Baby P

Good morning!!! Another weekend gone by way too fast! But yall, this one was one for the books.

My sister had planned to come into town on Friday evening for one of her friend’s birthday’s on Saturday – well that is what she told me. She arrived late Friday night and we chatted until 1am. :). Saturday morning my sister left to go have brunch for her friend’s birthday and I got ready to go help my friend take some pictures for her business.

Well .. I arrived at my friend’s house and all the girls surprised me with a little baby shower for Baby P!! I was sooo surprised and had no idea.

They had a whole spread, the cutest decor, and fun games! Baby P was very spoiled by these ladies this weekend.

Cannot believe this girl drove all the way to SA for less than 24 hours… she had to leave Saturday night because her fiance was competing in his first triathalon on Sunday morning!!! (He did great!!)

We opened presents and played some fun games. The girls collected baby pictures of everyone and it was fun guessing who was who.

The boys showed up after their golf game to celebrate with us.

This guy is going to be the first daddy of the group and I can’t wait! We are getting soo soo excited!

We spent the rest of the day just hanging outside and enjoying the weather. It was the best surprise ever and I am just so so so grateful to my friends and sister for making me feel so special.

I spent Sunday rearranging the nursery (my sister has a good eye and told me where to move all the furniture so that it makes more sense) and organizing all of Baby P’s new gifts.

This past year has been a tough one and it’s days like these that make me realize how truly fortunate and blessed I am. Baby P, we are ready for you!! The countdown is on… 73 days left… but who’s counting? 🙂

28 weeks, Doggie Door, and Pregnancy Side Effects

Hey friends!! How are you? How was your weekend and week? Ours was great, but went by way too fast. We spent Saturday working around the house – bagging leaves outside, giving the dogs haircuts, power washing our sidewalks, and my husband installed this doggie door in our living room.

Riley (our senior doggie) has been wanting to go outside then 2 minutes later he is scratching on the door wanting to come back in. And repeat. All.day.long.

So we decided enough is enough and he needs a dog door so he can come and go as he pleases. My husband started researching some dog doors but since our back door is glass, it was going to be pretty expensive to add a dog door or we would have to replace the whole door.

So we ended up just ordering a dog door from PetSmart and installing it ourselves (ok my husband did it all). It took him a couple hours.

All week we have been letting them out the door and trying to teach them to come back in when they want through the doggie door.  Callie figured it out the fastest and Riley and Tito are still learning… so Jon and I have spent a lot of time hanging out by the dog door with treats trying to teach the puppies. 🙂

Yesterday marked 29 weeks (the blog is always a week behind…) and yall, I am feeling it. I am still feeling good overall…still exercising and not having any real pain, but I have been hit with extreme exhaustion like the first trimester again. My work has really picked up so I think it could be that too. Other than exhaustion, the heartburn the last couple weeks has been horrible. I am having a hard time keeping food down especially after lunch and dinner and have been avoiding greasy and spicy foods. It is honestly just all food at this point. The only relief I get is walking after meals so I have been walking at least a mile after lunch and a couple miles after dinner outside with the pups or on my treadmill while I work. It seems to help quite a bit, but now my legs are exhausted after a few days of all that extra walking. LOL… it is always something.

My husband and I joked that I am going to end up losing/not gaining weight this trimester because of all the walking I am doing because of the heartburn. I am up about 18 lbs right now and my doctor said I am measuring on track so that is a relief!!

I didn’t tell yall, but I actually failed the 1 hour glucose test. UGH. So my doctor scheduled me for the 3 hour glucose test this week and thankfully I found out that I passed it so no worries about gestational diabetes. For the 3 hour test, you have to drink the same sugary drink again (which I didn’t mind), but you have to sit at the doctor’s office for 3 hours and get your blood drawn 4 times. I don’t mind blood draws, but 3 hours of not being able to drink water or eat anything after that extremely sugar drink on an empty stomach was ROUGH. I had to go lay down in my car a few times to avoid puking. The nurse said that a lot of women don’t finish the test because they get so nauseous and throw up and end up having to go back and do it again. I told her don’t worry, I will be finishing this test because I am absolutely not doing this again. Thankfully, I made it. Ha!! 🙂

We are starting to get ready for the baby to actually be here by organizing the nursery, ordering post partum supplies, and this week we got to do an interview with a pediatrician. My husband and I both really liked him and his office is really close to our house so another thing we got to check off the list!!

Another long day of work today, but TGIF!! My sister is actually coming into town tonight for one of her friend’s birthday’s tomorrow so that will be fun to see her. I have plans with a friend tomorrow then plan on just relaxing this weekend and probably walking a lot too. ;).

I hope you all have a great weekend with beautiful weather!! Tell me what your plans are!! XOXO

Thirsty Thursday, Updates, March Madness and Doggies

Hey friends!! Happy Thursday! Woah… it has been a week already! How are you all? How is your week going? I’m just chugging along over here ready for another relaxing weekend!

I have lots of really random updates for you today so here we go.

I read two more of Colleen Hoover’s books that were both really good. Confess was wonderful and Maybe Not is just a short little easy read that you should read BEFORE Maybe Someday. Please send in book recs before I read all million of hers. LOL.

Let’s back up to last Friday. You guys… it was a doozy. I started not feeling well after dinner on Friday night, but just chalked it up to general nausea/pregnancy indigestion. Until 10pm hit and I couldn’t stop throwing up until 7am (TMI, I know!). UGH!! It was sooo awful. I was worried it could be the start of another bowel blockage, but thankfully after an IV and some anti-nausea meds on Saturday I was back to feeling brand new and have felt fine ever since.

I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and told my doctor who didn’t seem to be too concerned and agreed that it was probably a stomach bug (ruled out food poisoning because we cooked at home and my husband was fine). Who knows, but I am just glad I am feeling better. Speaking of the doctor, today marks 28 weeks and I had my glucose test yesterday to test for gestational diabetes. I will find out later today or tomorrow. Also, I thought the glucose drink was good. LOL. Everyone always complains about how bad it is, but I just thought it tasted like sprite and had no problem downing it. I did have a headache yesterday, which I attribute to all the extra sugar.

The most common pregnancy question I get is am I having any weird cravings? And my answer is still no. I still crave a good cold diet coke with lemon, but that is about it. I will say that another aversion I am having is chili powder. Before I was pregnant, I put chili powder on everything… salmon, eggs, etc. But now, it’s not that I just don’t like it… it tastes completely different to me. My husband put it on salmon a week or two ago and I was like WHAT DID YOU PUT ON THIS?!?! He said chili powder. I was like ARE YOU SURE?!?!? LOL. It tastes soo weird/off to me right now.

Did you all do a bracket for March Madness? I am not one to normally join in, but I did this year and I ended up winning. Maybe I should play more often. 😉

Still keeping up with my exercising and daily walks while I can! I have to say I still don’t really have much to complain about with pregnancy and for that, I am grateful!! Still feeling really good. Fingers crossed it stays that way now that I am entering the 3rd trimester!!

Lots of work to do today and I am getting a prenatal massage, which I am pretty pumped about!! The massage academy here was offering a free massage to pregnant people this week so I jumped on that bandwagon!

I’ll leave yall with a few cute pics of my crazy pups. :). These are the rare occasions they are sitting on/by my husband and not me. 🙂

Tito has absolutely no awareness of my bump and frequently thinks the bump makes a great pillow. 🙂

The baby has been moving A LOT the last week, which is super fun!! We have been busy getting the nursery together (I’ll show once we finally have it all together, which will probably be the day before the baby arrives) and trying to find a pediatrician (we meet one for an interview next week). Lots going on over here, but we have minimal plans for the weekend, which will be nice. What is going on in your world?? Tell me some fun things you have planned!! I hope you have a great rest of your week and a great weekend!!
