Hey friends!!! Happy Tuesday to you!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! Ours was so busy, but in a good way. We got about 4 projects started/finished around the house which is always a good feeling. We need to better secure our kitchen runner and we found some better tape that is working just great, I worked to fix my “gym” floor. We use those cushion-y floor mats and overtime they come apart so we duck tape the bottom so they stay together better. I also sanded and repainted our master bathroom cabinets that got warped in the snowstorm two weeks ago. I was able to just touch up the places I had sanded and didn’t end up having to paint the entire vanity again. We got started on another fun project for the house and I will share more of that later this week. I need some help picking a color to paint it!!
Last week marked 22 weeks for Baby P and yesterday marked 4 months until my due date!! It still feels like a long ways away, but I know these next few months will go by quickly.
Cravings – yall, my one and only craving right now is a diet coke on ice with half of a freshly squeezed lemon. I go through phases where I drink diet coke a lot and then kinda forget about it, but I never drink it with lemon. Well, now I can’t drink it without lemon. Isn’t that strange?!
Preparations – I officially got all my paperwork completed and signed by my doctor for my maternity leave (I get 12 weeks), applied for and got insurance to approve my breast pump (I used Aeroflow and the process was super easy; I had a ton of different options to choose from so just looked at a lot of reviews and picked one; if I don’t like it, I will just end up buying one, but thought I would give the free one a try first :)), started researching pediatricians in our area, and got on a waiting list for a nearby daycare. There is a daycare literally 200 yards from our house so we decided as a backup plan to just get on the waiting list, but I think our plan right now is to have an in-home nanny – at least for the first few months I am back at work (I work from home) especially if I am breastfeeding, but who knows!! We shall see what happens. We are just trying to be extra prepared with all the options, but probably won’t make a final decision until after the baby is born. 🙂
Weight Gain/Exercise – As of yesterday I have gained about 10 pounds so far. I have been able to eat and exercise normally, which I think has kept off excessive weight gain and helped me to remain really mobile. I haven’t dealt with any swelling or back problems yet so for that I am very thankful!! I am still exercising about 6 days a week – typically a 15-25 minute strength training session and at least one walk with my dogs. A few days a week I also do a long few mile walk with my pups.
Sleep – Honestly this is my only complaint right now. The actually sleep isn’t really the issue – the issue is my bladder. 😉 I have to get up to pee at least 2-3 times before I can even fall asleep and then a couple times in the middle of the night. Sometimes I can go right back to sleep, but other times I just toss and turn all night. The last two weeks I have woken up extremely thirsty too, which clearly doesn’t help my situation when I chug water in the middle of the night. LOL.
Nursery – You guys, I have done nothing with the room that will be the nursery. I mean we painted it in December, but I have done nothing more to that room since then. :). I am such a planner by nature, but something about pregnancy just makes me relaxed and more laid back than usual. I know we will get it done and I’m just not really worried about it right now. We are meeting my mom in Dallas in a few weeks and she is bringing down a dresser that will go in the nursery (it matches our furniture and my dad has been storing it for us) so I think once we have that in the room, we will start to organize everything and decide what we want to add.
While we were lucky with just a few water damaged bathroom cabinets from the Texas snowstorm, the bigger devastation is our plants – our beloved lemon tree. Most of our plants are looking really sad, but we are hopeful some of them will come back to life. :). And yall, this freaking lemon tree only gave me 2 stinkin’ lemons!!! LOL.
I tried the feta/tomato tiktok pasta a couple weeks ago and I will say my husband and I both loved it. You just bake a block of feta cheese with cherry tomatoes at like 400 for 30 minutes with olive oil and italian seasonings. Once baked, you mix it all together with cooked pasta (I added spinach and fresh basil). Super yummy and easy. (I used chickpea gluten free pasta, but any kind will work!)
The doggies really wanted a taste. 😉
I am really obsessed with potatoes lately. I have been making fries from regular and sweet potatoes and air frying them to go with just about every dinner we eat. I used to be a honey mustard girl, but pregnancy has converted me into a ketchup girl.
This dog would lay outside in the sun all day every day if he could. He is about 12 or 13 now and still doing great. He really is the king of our household and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
And little Tito is my little shadow. He is always laying on me or right by my feet. But I think it is just because Callie is always next to me and Tito is obsessed with Callie – like will not leave her alone, ever. She’s really glad we got him. 😉
Sweet Callie exhausted from playing with Tito all day. 🙂
Oh I just had to show you the sweetest gifts my mother-in-law sent us for the baby. These were given to my husband when he was born/baptized by both his grandmas. My MIL is so sentimental and it is so fun to get these precious family treasures to pass down to Baby P!! Now I just have to remember to hold on to things like this for our future grand and great grand children. 🙂
That is all for today!! I will be back later this week to show you our latest home project!!! I hope you guys had a great weekend and have a great week ahead!!!! XOXOXO
