It’s Not Goodbye… Sharing Some Big News!

Hey friends!  I have been keeping a big secret from you guys for a little while now.  I had to wait until everything was finalized and all the appropriate people heard our news first.

Before I get to the good stuff, I cannot believe fall is here.  It feels like I blinked and summer was over.  I’m a little excited for pumpkin everything, sweaters, boots, and the beautiful leaves.  But other than that, I am forever missing summer.

Yall, this husband of mine, he is the perfect example of what it means to put others first.  This guy works his butt off every single day so that our family (doggies included) can live the life we have always wanted.

A few weeks ago this guy got a big promotion and I couldn’t be more proud of him.  He has worked really hard for this.  Knowing he works so hard for our family to live the life we want is all I could ask for.  I am really really fortunate to be married to someone who dreams big and puts our family’s future in the forefront of his mind always.

Unfortunately, that means we have to say goodbye to Nashville for now.  Goodbye to our family, our friends, our beautiful home, our amazing jobs and coworkers, our city that we have called home for the last year and a half.

While were are very sad to leave and close this chapter of our time in Nashville, we have BIG dreams for our family.  Big goals and dreams do not get accomplished living in a state of complacency.  My all time favorite quote is, “You have to get comfortable being uncomfortable.”  So while the comfort of living in Nashville near our friends and family has been nice, we know that in order to grow personally, as a family, and in our careers, it is time to make a move.  This move will get us one step closer to fulfilling our dreams for our family.

So this family is packing up our home in Nashville and heading back down south!  We are moving to Texas!  While I wish I could say we were moving back to Dallas, we are heading a few hours past there to San Antonio!

We thought long and hard about this move.  While it will definitely be one of the hardest moves for us (leaving our family and friends), we know this is the right decision for our family.  This will be our 5th move in 9 years (Salt Lake City, Cincinnati, Dallas, Nashville, San Antonio) and our first move since Utah where we will know no one in our new city.  While this thought is scary, it also excites me.  This is a new chance to branch out and make new friends and discover more of what this beautiful country has to offer.  We truly believe that we get closer to our dreams when we step out of our comfort zone and try new things.  It makes us better people and better partners.

This opportunity is just too good for our family to pass up.  While we do hope to be back closer to family in the future, we know right now is the right time for a move.  We are still young, we don’t have children, and we are ready for this change.  Thank you all for supporting me and my family and our crazy, wild life of adventures.  We are really excited for this move (don’t you worry, I will be sobbing when I have to leave my parents, but my husband told me he would buy me some ice cream ;))!!!!!

I just need to take a minute to point out this lady right here, my momma.  I’m not sure where we would be without her.  I can’t even count the amount of things she has done for us while we have been in Nashville.  It is going to be a BIG adjustment for me not being able to call her to come over or see her every weekend at the pool.

Our sweet friends are throwing us a going away party this weekend so it will be a nice little send off.  We are moving out of our house at the beginning of next week (we will live with my dad for a week or two…he is thrilled to have us and our pups as roommates again ;)) and then my mom and I will drive down to San Antonio soon afterwards to meet my husband and the moving truck at our new house!!!  We were able to sell our house in Nashville in less than a week and bought a new house in San Antonio a couple weeks ago.  I was dying to tell you guys why we were in Texas on our last trip.  My mother-in-law and I saw 35 houses in two days.  Our realtor said she thinks that is her record.  I know, I am a little insane, but hey, we found one we really like that will be perfect for us (we actually made an offer on another one, but got beat buy another offer on the same day!).  We are getting new carpets installed in the bedrooms before we move in, which will be nice.  The only other thing we have plans to do is renovate the master bathroom.  The rest of the house is completely updated, but the master bathroom is not layed out very well and the shower is tiny.  We have already spoken to a few contractors and want to get that project started (and finished!!) as soon as we move in.

PS. the pups are super excited about the move too. 😉

A few people have been asking for pictures of our house in Nashville and I just never got around to taking any so I will leave the link to our house here and you guys can check it out if you want.  For security reasons, I will take my own pictures of our new house and show you guys once we get all moved in.  I will also document the bathroom renovation too!

I just want to end this post by saying thank you so much for all of your continued support.  You guys will never know how much it means to me.  Thank you for tagging along on my journey as we move about the country for my husband’s job.

xoxoxo

Questions:

  1.  Have you ever moved to a different state?
  2. How many times have your moved in your adult life?
  3. Do you all live close to family? Or wish you did?

  1. Yay! Congrats!! That’s a huge, exciting decision — thanks for sharing with the blogging world 🙂

I think I may have said this in one of these comments some time, but I’m from San Antonio — it’s a great city with lots to do, lots of Mexican food ;), and many running/biking trails — I’m sure you and Jon will love it! I’m excited for both of you!

Also, if you’re interested in making new friends, I’m still right by you! I’m sure the move will take all your time for a bit, but let me know if you need recommendations/help/every want to meet in person! (You should be able to see my e-mail address from this post, and I can give you more personal details in the privacy of an email instead of the blogosphere ;))

Best of luck with the move and the goodbyes!
