Weekend Recap 1.27.18 Hockey, Projects, and A Night Out

Hey friends! How’s it going?  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Mine started a little early with a fun night out with my dad last week for the Predators game!  We went to dinner at Amerigos before the game and it was so yummy!  Then we headed downtown to the arena.  It was an amazing game.  The Preds were winning 3 to 2 until a few minutes to go.

But then the other team scored and it went into overtime and the Preds lost. 😦 . But it is always a good time with my daddy!

I am all about home projects these days and since our house was brand new when we bought it, we haven’t had to do many projects.  So I have been coming up with new small projects for my husband and I to do together and the most recent one was building a ladder shelf like these ones.  We started and finished it this weekend so once it is all set up I will show you guys!!

These 3 are my everything.  I just love them so much. 🙂

Since moving into our new home in Nashville, I have been working out at home instead of at a gym and I LOVE it.  It is so nice to not have to worry about crowds, traffic, and time commuting.  Every time I do a wall sit, Callie comes over to give me a hug (and some extra weight). 🙂

I think I have shown you guys this bench that my husband and his brother made for our front porch, but this past weekend I finally got around to putting a few coats of poly on it, which gives it a nice shine and will protect it from harsh weather.   I just love it!

On Friday night my dad and little brother invited Jon and I out to dinner at Amerigos and we couldn’t say no!  Ofcourse I forgot to take any pictures, but we had a blast catching up with them!

Yall, don’t make fun of me, but I did yoga this past weekend at my house and ouch.  I am SO not flexible at all.  I never have been, but since taking yoga out of my workout routine, I have lost all flexibility that I did gain over the last few years.  I am going to make a point of doing yoga a couple times a week because I do notice that my back feels a lot better when I stretch regularly.

Our Sunday started with a workout and lots of cleaning around the house.  In the afternoon we headed to World Market (we got a big Costco run in too, which is my favorite!) to do some shopping for our new shelf before heading to dinner with my mom and stepdad at Antonios.

I got the grilled salmon and it was delicious… probably due to all the butter on it!! 😉

After dinner we had plans to see Father Gregory Boyle speak about his book “Tattoos on the Heart.”  If you haven’t heard of him or his book, you should look him up and read his book.  It is a quick, easy read and it is fantastic.  He works with gang members in LA and helps them get jobs, tattoo removals, and helps them find a purpose to lead a better life.  He is truly amazing and his talk was wonderful too.

I hope you all had a great weekend and have a wonderful rest of your week!!

  1. I am old enough to be your Mom but had to comment. I love the relationship you have with your family, husband and pup babies. We have a ton in common in all of those ways. So it makes me so happy when I see you enjoying your life with someone you love dearly and spending time with loved ones, eating, drinking and living life large. Like I do! Happy Tuesday! XO

    1. Thanks Donna!!! Oh age is just a number! Do you have any children, neices, nephews? Do you live close to your family/get to see them often? I really appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and comment. It means so much to me. Have a great day, Donna!!! XOXOXO

      1. We do not have any children but both of use are from huge families. I am one of 8 and Scott is one of 7!!!!!!!!!!!! We have about 34 nieces/nephews!!!! I have two sisters who live very close to me and we are all very close and do our sissie days when we can and I always LOVE that time. We have one little four-legged daughter and she is our world. (she has a terminal illness and that is heart-breaking but we are giving her the best life EVER!!!). Have a great day and enjoy the rest of the week and WEEKEND time.

      2. Wow!! 34 nieces and nephews!! that is amazing!! That is awesome that you get to see your sisters often!! I am going to Dallas to visit my sister next weekend and I can’t wait!! Aww my doggies are my world so I know how hard that is. We lost our black lab, Parker, about 3 years ago and still think about him ever day. He was an epileptic and had seizures often. It was heartbreaking as he was only 3 years old when he passed. But we gave him the best life and I find peace in knowing that he lived his short life to the fullest! Enjoy ever day with your sweet girl! xoxoxo

  2. I LOVE hockey games! Virginia Beach only has the smaller farm teams, but still so much fun. Also, that salmon looks amazing. Now I’m hungry. Highlight of my weekend was taking my dog to the park. It’s been 30 degrees lately and so cold and Saturday was 75! I just finished reading Origin by Dan Brown and now onto Murder on the Orient Express.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Annie!!! I love hockey games too!! I love how fast-paced they are! Oh wow, 75 is such a nice change of pace from the cooler temperatures!! I sure am ready for spring!! 🙂 I haven’t read either of those, but will have to check them out! I am always looking for new book recommendations. Have a great day, Annie!!

  3. I looove alll this! Great father-daughter time ❤ And I have loved working out at home too- I typically do Insanity! You and your husband are too stinking cute. THAT BENCH! amazing— they could seriously make a business out of making those.
    – highlight: Bonding with my patients this week ❤
    – last book : Lovely bones
    – one project: Sell a few things on Craig's list (not actually a project, but sorta) haha
