Hey friends!!! I hope your week is going well! Mine has been kinda crazy, but I am pretty happy today because we are headed south today for a wedding this weekend!
Before we head out I wanted to recap last week’s events because there were plenty of them! My mom offered to take Jon and I out to breakfast for my birthday. My mom suggested The Cafe at Thistle Farms, which is a new cafe in town with an amazing mission of empowering and employing women that have been affected by trafficking, prostitution, and addiction.
I got the yogurt with homemade granola and fruit and it was really good!
After breakfast my mom and I headed to East Tennessee on a little road trip. I had to go to work so she decided to tag along! After work we headed to Cru Bistro and Wine Bar which I have been wanting to try for some time.
I got the salmon, my mom got a pizza and we ordered some Brussel sprouts to share! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
After dinner we relaxed in the hotel and applied our facial masks. 😉
The next day after a full morning of work we grabbed lunch at Panera before hitting the road. I am currently obsessed with their autumn squash soup. It is SOOO delicious!
Less than an hour after getting home, Jon and I were out the door for a fun date night. We decided on Henrietta Red for dinner.
I had been once before for drinks and have been wanting to try the food ever since!
We got a ceviche to start, I got the scallops and my husband got the fish and we both raved about our meals!
After dinner we headed to The Ryman Auditorium to see Sheryl Crow for a benefit concert. The show was absolutely amazing!!
Friday night we just took it easy and hung out at home because we had plans on Saturday and I was pretty exhausted from traveling and being out late on Thursday night. Saturday morning we went for a nice long walk with the pups and I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful changing leaves. I just love fall!
Saturday afternoon we headed to Natchez Hills Winery at Fontanel for some wine tasting with our friends to celebrate my birthday!!
My sweet friend Rachael organized the event and had balloons, gifts and decor waiting for me when I arrived. 😉
After our tasting we bought a few bottles of wine to enjoy outside before our dinner reservation.
Such a fun day!
For dinner, we just hopped on over to the restaurant at Fontanel called Cafe Fontanel. There was a live band playing (they sung Happy Birthday to me :)) so that made the night so much fun! I got the fennel crusted salmon, which I loved! Rachael even brought me a gluten free almond cake from a local vegan bakery! Everyone came back to our house after dinner for some ping pong and relaxing!! It was such a great extended birthday weekend celebration and I am just so grateful to everyone who made it so special! I have such amazing friends!!!
We are heading to the airport to chase the warmer weather!! Have a great rest of your week!!
Questions:
- What is your favorite cake flavor?
- Have your tried any new restaurants lately?
- What was the highlight of your weekend?
I love vanilla cake with chocolate chips in it…that’s what I got for my wedding cake! All of your food and drink looks so delicious! Those face masks look hilariously terrifying but they work so well hahaha!

What a great friend Rachel is! It looks like you had a wonderful time for your birthday (happy belated birthday!) with wonderful people who love you. I hope moving back to Nashville has been a great way to reconnect with people. I’m always so in awe of people who make friends in new places, especially post-schooling. It’s so much more difficult connecting with people after you graduate. For me, having a strong support system is what maintains my sanity – I hope moving back to Nashville has helped you rekindle what seems to be an awesome support system!
Also, Sheryl Crow! I loved her as a kid – I’m glad the show was nice!
My favorite cake is a dense yellow cake with buttercream frosting. I crave them sometimes, but unfortunately I haven’t found a great one where I live – I guess that’s good for my blood sugar, ha!
