Good morning friends!! I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of 2016! Where has the time gone? 2016 has been a crazy year for me with many happy moments, quite a few trying times, a few big decisions and changes, and a lot of self discovery. I would be lying if I said I was sad to see this year end; I am ready for a fresh start and I just know 2017 is going to be a great year!
So you may remember last year that I did a reset last January. I gave up alcohol for the entire month of January. This was quite a challenge as someone who loves to sip on a glass of wine while cooking dinner or toast with champagne for some “exciting” event. Let’s just say… there is always a reason to celebrate, but that doesn’t mean alcohol always needs to be involved. Listen, I love a good glass of wine (or two), but after over indulging over the holidays, it is usually time for a much needed reset. But if alcohol isn’t your thing, that is totally fine too!
I would love for you all to join me in the January Reset where you choose your vice and abstain from it for the whole month. If you are a coffee addict like me, this could mean switching up your morning cup of joe for a cup of tea or a glass of water. If you are a chocoholic, this could mean choosing a piece of fruit after dinner to satisfy your sweet craving instead of reaching for that candy. If you are like my mom and love a sweet treat (for breakfast), this could mean giving up baked goods for the month. (My mom is giving up her sweets for the month of January.)
But hey, if you have got it covered in the physical health department, maybe giving up something less concrete is where you would benefit the most. This could be gossiping or being judgmental. It could be switching a negative comment to a positive one. This is your reset. Reset your body or your mind or both! This is about you and giving up something that is hindering your goals or holding you back from becoming the person you want to be. Whatever it is you decide to give up, make sure it is something realistic and something you can stick to. For me, giving up coffee is just not an option right now, but giving up my few glasses of wine per week is something very doable for me…. not easy, but doable.
So who went a little overboard during the holidays? I am sure most of us did and that is totally okay. Holidays are the time of the year to relax and enjoy good foods, yummy drinks, and sweet treats with our loved ones without worrying about being extra indulgent. But now is the time to make a commitment to get back on track! The January Reset will help you do just that!! Are you going to join me?!?! I sure hope so!
