Hi guys!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was spent catching up with family and friends in Ohio. It was a very short visit, but we managed to cram in a lot. After a long travel day on Sunday, yesterday was spent catching up and relaxing a bit as I am feeling a little under the weather and hoping that it passes quickly as we are headed out of town again on Wednesday.
On Friday morning, we headed to the airport bright and early to head to Cleveland. We arrived late afternoon, checked into our hotel, and headed to meet my cousin, his wife, and their baby for dinner.
We stayed at the Kent State Hotel for the weekend. The hotel is quite new and was really nice.
We met my family at Bricco for dinner. We had a blast catching up with them and playing with baby Steven. He is the sweetest and most friendly baby I have ever met. He let me and Jon hold him and we fell in love. 🙂
After dinner we caught up with our friends at the hotel bar for a couple hours. These two girls were my roommates freshmen year of college. Amber (middle) is the one who got married this weekend. I am so glad we have stayed in touch all these years… we always have a blast when we are together.
Saturday morning after breakfast at the hotel, Jon and I decided to take a little stroll around Kent. Kent is a small college town that is full of character.
We walked a few blocks from the hotel and came across the local farmer’s market.
After our walk, we headed to the gym for a quick workout before getting ready for the gym. We had a quick lunch in the room before heading to Wingfoot Lake State Park for the wedding ceremony.
The ceremony was so beautiful and the weather ended up being perfect after a cloudy morning.
After the ceremony, we headed to a local bar so my husband could watch some football. Don’t ask me what teams were playing, I have no idea. 🙂
At 5pm, we headed back to the hotel where the reception was being held. It started out with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and lots of dancing.
Amber (bride) and Andrew (groom) met in China while they were both teaching. They have done a lot of traveling together over the years so the tables at the receptions were by locations. Their guest “book” was a map of the world that guests could sign and they could later frame to keep. I just loved this unique touch.
I am obsessed with all the details of weddings so here are a few more I captured.
There was a photobooth at the wedding and we had a blast with all of our friends playing dress up. 🙂
We got to see a lot of our old friends from college, which is always so fun!
It was such a special and memorable weekend!! From 8 years ago in our freshmen year dorm to getting married, I am so happy to have these friends in my life! Congrats to Amber and Andrew!! You two deserve all the best! 🙂
Questions:
- How was your weekend? What was the highlight?
- Do you have any weddings this season?
- Do you stay in touch with high school/college friends?
what a fun weekend!!
I do stay in touch with high school friends- I actually saw some of them this weekend while I was home! It is so nice to catch up with them and I’m thankful we are still close!
Highlight of my weekend was probably hanging with my friends and seeing my extended fam!

Looks like it was a beautiful wedding! It looks like they put a lot of thought into even the smallest details – love the dancing/vodka sign! I wish I had thought of something like that for my wedding 🙂
