Good morning, friends!! How are you all doing after a long holiday weekend? We got home late last night and boy am I tired today…. I still managed to pull myself out of bed for an early 3.5 mile run so I could start this day on a high note!
I had all intentions of stopping in yesterday, but the day just got away from me. After almost an entire week at Lake Burton in Georgia with my in-laws, I have quite the array of photos to show you. I realize this is becoming more of a travel blog at the moment, but I’m just going with it. I hope to get back in the kitchen soon to craft up some new recipes that have been on my mind for sometime now, but my busy schedule doesn’t allow for much of that right now. As I have mentioned before, I have the companion pass (Southwest) this year so I can travel for free with my husband this entire year, which has allowed us quite a few more trips than usual. We are taking FULL advantage of this awesome perk and have been on the go at least twice a month this whole year… and the traveling is not going to slow down until the end of the year. I am so grateful to be able to travel, but I really am looking forward to some down time in my own kitchen where I can be creative and test new recipes. Until then…..
We arrived in Atlanta last Wednesday evening, grabbed a rental car, and made the short two-hour drive to the lake! After a very restful night of sleep, Thursday started bright and early with a long walk/run with my favorite sidekick, Riley.
I spent a lot of time waiting on him…. he has to sniff EVERYTHING in a new place.
Most of my lunches consisted of massive salads the size of my head loaded with lots of veggies!
There were quite a few naps on the screened in porch, too!
Thursday night it was just me, my husband, and my in-laws so we kept it simple for dinner. They grabbed a couple pizzas and I broiled a piece of salmon for my salad. Delish!!
Friday night my husband’s brothers arrived and we headed out for dinner in town to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday at Fortify. I got the salmon (I can’t ever pass it up) and my husband got the sea bass. Both were incredible!
And a chocolate dessert for the birthday girl!
The birthday girl and her 3 boys. 🙂
The whole crew.
A few of us had to run into Walmart after dinner to grab a couple things and somehow we ended up in the hat isle…. They tried on about 10 hats each…
My husband told me I couldn’t get this one. I thought it looked cute. 😉
There is something so peaceful about mornings at the lake…
Saturday morning started with a long walk with my husband, brother in law, and pup followed by a morning jet-ski ride with my hubs. The morning breeze was so refreshing!
I worked up quite the appetite for breakfast! I had coconut greek yogurt, lots of berries and walnuts. This may be my new favorite combination!
After breakfast we started this puzzle… It was the hardest puzzle I have ever done.
I’ll wrap this post up here, but I have more to show you tomorrow that includes a fun surprise we did for my mother-in-law’s birthday! Have a great day!

Thank you, Donna!! I really appreciate it! My husband doesn’t work for the airline.. he just travels a lot for work (he has a lot of miles and I travel with him for free with the Southwest Companion pass this year). I just work part time and my days are flexible so I can switch them up as needed for travel. 🙂 We are very blessed and are really trying to soak in this wonderful stage in our lives.
