Happy Tuesday everyone!! We are still struggling with a little jetlag over here, but other than that, all is well! I am so excited to share pictures from our time in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is such a neat city! It was pretty cold while we were there (in the high 40s, low 50s) and it rained off and on quite a bit. Amsterdam does have public transportation, but we didn’t bother buying a train pass because we wanted to walk everywhere. Our FitBits were so happy while we were abroad… we easily walked over 10,000 steps per day, but most days were closer to 20,000.
We took a short 1 hour plane ride from London to Amsterdam on Monday and went straight to our Airbnb when we arrived. It was a nice, modern apartment located within walking distance to everything!
Amsterdam is so beautiful!
After we got settled we walk around a bit and ended up in a really neat pub. My husband had to get a picture next to the Indiana sign!
As you probably know, Amsterdam is full of coffee shops that legally sell marijuana. They are everywhere. We had to stop in an get a cup of tea and scope it out. The people watching was quite amusing.
More pub hopping!
Monday night we went to a very small Italian restaurant for dinner. I got the grilled salmon and my husband got the carbonara pasta.
Tuesday morning we woke up and walked around for a bit before deciding to do a canal cruise.
It was a great way to see the city and stay dry. As you can tell by the pictures, the weather went from beautiful to raining and cloudy very quickly.
After the canal cruise, we grabbed lunch at a cute cafe. I had this delicious quinoa and vegetable salad and my husband had a sandwich.
Like in London, biking is very popular in Amsterdam. Unfortunately the weather was a little too cold and windy for us to ride bikes.
After lunch we headed to the Heineken Brewery to take a tour. I am such a nice wife… I don’t drink beer, but I went anyway. My husband was more than happy to have my 2 beers that were included. 😉
This brewery doesn’t actually brew beer anymore as it is just set up for tours. We learned all about the history of Heineken, the evolution of the logo and the bottles.
We learned all about brewing beer. And now my husband wants to start making his own. 😉
There were stables in the brewery that house the horses that used to deliver the beer around town to all of the pubs and restaurants. They still walk around the city twice a day.
After the brewery tour we went to a little bar called Bubbles and Wine for my kind of drink!
Anywhere that has wine on tap is my kind of place!
Tuesday night we went to a restaurant called The Pantry. We just walked past it and decided to stop in. Apparently this place is very popular and we were really lucky to get in without a reservation. I had the sea bass and my husband had some kind of beef Stroganoff.
Wow, that was a long one! If you made it this far, thanks for reading!
