Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fun night last night! Last year we spent new year’s eve out with friends in Cincinnati, but this year we kept it very low key. We are finally settled back home and it feels so good!

After a long trip away from home it always takes a few days to get caught back up especially if you come back and go straight to work. This week was no different with loads of laundry, unpacking, organizing, grocery shopping, food prepping, and just getting back into the groove of things.
My husband went to pick up our sweet Callie girl at her sitter’s house on Wednesday. She was beyond excited to see us!! We missed her so much!
And Thursday I finally did some much needed grocery shopping. Tip: Do not grocery shop on new year’s eve. ever.
And came home from work to find this just because… husband of the year award 🙂 He knows the way to my heart!
Our sweet Aunt Nanci sent us this to celebrate New Years! She is the cutest!
And that is just what we did! Happy New Year!!
I saw this and thought it was hilarious… and embarrassingly true 🙂
Some veggies eaten this week before stocking up on groceries!
Somebody is so glad we are home!
She is too cute.
And Riley is happy to be home too!
But they both have been a little tired this week 🙂
Naptime…
We rang in the New Year with a yummy dinner at home.
Can you guess what we made with this pesto? (My mom and stepdad make their own pesto and send me home with some every time I visit… I don’t mind ;)).
Yep, spiralized zucchini pasta with homemade pesto.
But it wouldn’t be complete without the fixings!
Sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic.
Pan-grilled salmon to top it off… so good!
I could eat this whole meal again right now! Yum!
I’m not sure what I did differently, but last night this meal was just so good. And I make this meal a lot. My husband agreed it was extra yummy last night.
This morning started off with some fruit chopping! Fresh mango and pears.
Added in some fresh pineapple = delicious!
Cooked a couple eggs and put them on top of a rice cake (english muffin for the hubs) with avocado. My favorite breakfast.
Then we took a long walk with the pups… we are watching this scruffy pup this weekend.
My sister and her boyfriend are going to a concert tonight so they dropped off our nephew, Otis, for us to watch tonight 😉
Sweet cuddling cousins.
We have our hands full… of puppies.. just the way we like it! Off to enjoy 2016!
Questions:
- How was your New Year’s Eve? What did you do?
- Any New Year’s resolutions/goals? Mine always include eating better, trying new workouts, and giving back (more on this one later!).
- Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
Aw love the puppy pictures! I’ve had a sick puppy who has been sick since Wednesday night. She is finally drinking water today. I didn’t do anything for NYE since I wanted to keep an eye on her.

Aww Sheena, I’m so sorry. A sick puppy is the worst. You just feel so helpless. Hope your pup feels better soon!

Yes! It is a spiralizer… very easy to use and doesn’t take much time to clean! I think I got mine on Amazon for about $30. I use it all the time. My favorite veggies to spiralize are zucchini and sweet potatoes!
